    Raining, picnic and beautiful
It started raining when we entered and it got worse after we bought picnic food. The food snd restaurant and the garden was fabulous! Want to go again! Unfortunately they hadda wedding inside and outside was only a few umbrellas for all running out of the rain.

    A relaxing oasis
The botanical garden includes the garden itself with many pretty flowers and trees, and fountains, completely without any entrance fee. There is also a inside garden house, but we did not have the opportunity to visit that however (closed at 6 p.m.) Tip: take a 2.5 km walk from Köln Altstadt along the riverfront to reach the botanical garden. Note that there are no services available (besides toilet) in the evening.

    Not spectacular, but restful
Small, understated botanical garden. Some items of interest, but unfortunately the glass houses are closed for rebuilding. But very good to get a break from the business of Cologne, to sit in the sun and eat at the open air cafe

    A walk in the gardens
A beautiful, serene, lush botanical garden which is located within a walkable distance of the Cologne Hauptbahnhof. I was amazed at the tranquility of the place, the vast collection of flora from different parts of the world. Was a bit disappointed that all plant identifies were only in the German language making it difficult for tourists to understand it. A bit more inclusiveness would go a long way in making it a pleasurable and a well worth learning experience. Some sections were closed and not enough sign posts to show the exit, WC, etc. No eateries around the place either. Also was surprised at the lack of birds in the gardens. However, I enjoyed my time there and would recommend it to visitors to Cologne

The Botanical Gardens Flora of Cologne is a wonderful set of gardens in the north west of the city and very easy to reach by tram. As soon as you enter, you're presented with an amazing view of an Italian style garden that ends with the Palace of the Botanical Gardens. The rest of the botanical gardens is laid out fairly irregularly with lots of paved walkways. Though not quite as irregular as English gardens, there's not fixed shaped to the themed gardens within.

It's a real pity the tropical gardens was undergoing renovations. It's still worth a visit if you have time and feel like a walk in pleasant surroundings.

We opted to take a stroll around the botanical gardens this afternoon. They are free to enter which is great and very beautiful. Very worth the wander.

My couple and I were looking for a place to make out the most of the sunny day in Cologne. Free access and many plants from all over the world to see, some wild rabbits, ducks and fish aswell. Theres a food and drinks area as well. Overall a beautiful park to visit in Cologne.

Beautiful botanical garden and park in Cologne, Germany. Nice place to walk around. It forms part of the Cologne's green belt and is open daily. Entry is free. The garden contains exotic and native trees. Excellent playground for kids. You may find some dogs in the playground area. Parking space available.

Just had to get off the hop on/off bus and visit here. Very impressive entrance.
Free admission. Clean loos.
In April , it was warm & sunny. Beautiful flowers and shrubs. Statues, water features etc. Saw red squirrels too.
The cafe was splendid. How clever to put the drinks etc in a bucket (with bottle opener attached )rather than balancing food/drinks on a tray. Delicious food and such friendly staff.
A real gem. Do visit .

Everything is expensive in Germany, especially for an Indian tourist who currency is undervalued to the euro. But this beautiful place is free. It's also very close to a train station, so you can save money on travel as well. Nice greenhouse and good places to sit and read a book too.

Next to the zoo this quite old fashioned garden is beautifully maintained with flower beds, glass houses, fountains and lakes. There was an interesting area of model vegetable gardens and also a section on commercial crops such as wheat, barley rye and others. Most of the garden was well labelled. It says 'no picnics' but we ate our sandwiches on a bench and no one worried us, when I looked in the bin it was full of picnic things so we can't have been alone doing this. There is no where close to buy food or drink but about 10 minutes walk away was an area with a selection of food shops and cafés. There is a very smart looking restaurant in the park which we did not discover until the end of our visit, it's inside the orangery the main building in the park.
