- Ann B14 contributionsThe Botanical gardens in Cologne was a really lovely place to visit. Just a short tram ride away from where we were staying. The weather was really hot so the fountain in the middle of the garden was refreshing as you walked past it several times to get cool. The gardens were well looked after and several flowers I haven't seen before. Well worth a visit.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 26, 2024
- Daan KRotterdam, The Netherlands30 contributionsNice relaxed park for walking and sitting on the benches because the grass is not allowed; ) The catering establishment was very busy and you had to queue to get a drink. Better to bring something yourself and enjoy it in the gardens. The greenhouses were closed and still under construction. Nice place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 8, 2024
- Truth Z11 contributionsWe were only in the area overnight & visited the gardens on scooter. It is breathtakingly beautiful & very well looked after! Being a gorgeous summers day, there was so much flora & fauna to see! The cafe is full of fresh food & drinks, very nice on the deck. Definitely worth a visit & it’s free.Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten July 29, 2024
- oriano mAriccia, Italy74 contributionsNice botanical garden well maintained where you can admire countless species of plants and flowers , At Inter there are also two bars where you can buy drinks and wine also takeaway I must say that the desserts were very good . Times necessary for the visit at least three hours. Connected by public transport very well.Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten August 4, 2024

It started raining when we entered and it got worse after we bought picnic food.
The food snd restaurant and the garden was fabulous! Want to go again!
Unfortunately they hadda wedding inside and outside was only a few umbrellas for all running out of the rain.

This makes for a fantastic and peaceful break for the crowds of the city. An easy train ride from the center takes you to the big park area that contains the zoo and botanical gardens. Plan to spend the day and enjoy the beautiful area and the lovely outdoor cafe, where you can guy items to create a picnic (they give you a basket to carry everything).
After visiting the gardens, you have the option of the zoo and the big ferris wheel, which I think is seasonal.

The botanical garden includes the garden itself with many pretty flowers and trees, and fountains, completely without any entrance fee. There is also a inside garden house, but we did not have the opportunity to visit that however (closed at 6 p.m.) Tip: take a 2.5 km walk from Köln Altstadt along the riverfront to reach the botanical garden. Note that there are no services available (besides toilet) in the evening.

A beautiful, serene, lush botanical garden which is located within a walkable distance of the Cologne Hauptbahnhof. I was amazed at the tranquility of the place, the vast collection of flora from different parts of the world. Was a bit disappointed that all plant identifies were only in the German language making it difficult for tourists to understand it. A bit more inclusiveness would go a long way in making it a pleasurable and a well worth learning experience. Some sections were closed and not enough sign posts to show the exit, WC, etc. No eateries around the place either. Also was surprised at the lack of birds in the gardens.
However, I enjoyed my time there and would recommend it to visitors to Cologne

During our trip we visited three botanical gardens during our 2-week trip. Unfortunately, this was the least one of the three. Currently the greenhouse is under construction. Signs say it needs to be done by 2022. However clearly it isn't. Do you have a few hours to kill, definitely go. Other locations in Germany are better though.

Small, understated botanical garden. Some items of interest, but unfortunately the glass houses are closed for rebuilding. But very good to get a break from the business of Cologne, to sit in the sun and eat at the open air cafe

The Botanical Gardens Flora of Cologne is a wonderful set of gardens in the north west of the city and very easy to reach by tram. As soon as you enter, you're presented with an amazing view of an Italian style garden that ends with the Palace of the Botanical Gardens. The rest of the botanical gardens is laid out fairly irregularly with lots of paved walkways. Though not quite as irregular as English gardens, there's not fixed shaped to the themed gardens within.
It's a real pity the tropical gardens was undergoing renovations. It's still worth a visit if you have time and feel like a walk in pleasant surroundings.

My couple and I were looking for a place to make out the most of the sunny day in Cologne. Free access and many plants from all over the world to see, some wild rabbits, ducks and fish aswell. Theres a food and drinks area as well. Overall a beautiful park to visit in Cologne.

Beautiful botanical garden and park in Cologne, Germany. Nice place to walk around. It forms part of the Cologne's green belt and is open daily. Entry is free. The garden contains exotic and native trees. Excellent playground for kids. You may find some dogs in the playground area. Parking space available.

Why do you need to bike inside of the garden ?
Better if you keep your bike at the entrance area, and then enjoy the garden by walking.
The is a lot of children, scrambling and running, probably not a good combination when biking meet exited running children.

bonjour,
Je souhaiterai savoir quelles sont les horaires d'ouverture ainsi que le prix d'entrée?
Merci d'avance :)
Written July 2, 2017
hi Cabrette!!
the price of the entre in for FREE ... inside the botanical garden you have a wonderfull building and they make some event during the year inside this building, and I think that to entre to this event you have to pay, in the summer in thos building they have a bar too.
I don't remember exactly the timing of opening and close but in tje spring- summer they have a long opening time between 10.00 to 20.00 I think.
