It's a remarkable Cathedral, and of cause a touristic area with same problems like other all over the world. I live close by and always show friends travelling here.

The scale is amazing, and if you get a chance to go inside: do it! Great to wander around a little bit.

A shame that its beauty doesn't match its size. I imagine some of its popularity is down to the paucity of beautiful ecclesiastical buildings in Germany.

The Cathedral is huge and magnificently decorated in gothic style all over. It is situated right by the Rhine, and also juxtaposes with the industrial solidity of the Hauptbahnhof and railway bridge. On one side you can look down into the stone masons' yard and see the restoration work that goes on continuously. Inside, I found it a bit of... More

Waaaahhhhhhhhhh....this baby is HUUUGE! This is the biggest cathedral I have ever seen. The sheer size and intricacy of the carving in the stone is phenominal! Ok ,it could do with a clean but the colour adds to its gothic history and medieval legacy! The gargoyles are huge and terrifying...that was their job and the whole structure is massive and... More

A great sight right outside the station. It's free to enter, having traveled through Italy to get here this was a pleasant surprise. The two spires survived the WWII bombing all the stained glass windows are probably post war.
