The choir of the cathedral is very old but the rest wasn't completed until the 19th Century. It dominates the centre of Cologne, rising grandly above the main railway station. The painted windows are so beautiful and there are regular tours run by the Cathedral staff which are well worth the 7 Euros. English and German.

This tremendously large beautiful gothic cathedral is a must see. I recommend getting a tour guide to learn and absorb the history of the cathedral, also the tour takes you into the closed alter area where the public is not allowed This cathedral is an important part of the history of Cologne, don't miss it.

Wonderful Cathedral. We were also able to attend very fine free organ recital one evening which was a wonderful experience. We were recommended to buy the Cathedral liqueur from the cathedral shop. It was very good.

A wonderful morning was spent admiring this glorious cathedral. Inside, outside, and a climb up the nearly 600 stairs, for a magnificent view of Cologne! Not to be missed!

The cathedral is quite big and impressive but not well maintained. The outer surface has become dark grey and looks dirty. Need lots of maintainace . The area outside the cathedral is quite crowded with tourists and souvenir shops. A must buy is eu de cologne... From inside also, it's quite beautiful and impressive but needs maintainance. It's a UNESCO... More

Second time here. This time with young children. Even they marveled at this impressive cathedral. Do take the time inside, especially the stained glass windows.

If you like history, this is a great cathedral to visit, and look for pictures of city circa 1945, when this structure stood out amidst the distraction from the bombings of WW2.
