Learnt the story from the guide and visited to see for ourselves. So intricate - well worth a visit but find out the history first or go with a guide!

The story for this statue is amazing. We saw it on our free walking tour, and the guide clearly explained the story behind this. I would absolutely recommend seeing this on a tour or reading the story before checking this out. Also, the proximity to Cologne Cathedral makes this a great place to stop by while you're in the area.

There is a famous story related to Heinzelmannchen. You can sit near the fountain and buy a small book and read the story. It's nice and interesting.

Our local guide took us to this interesting fountain which is located near the Dom on a street called "Am Hof". It tells the story of the Heinzelmännchen (elves) who were doing the work of the people of Cologne while they slept. Of course a curious town person had to know what was going on and once the elves were... More

This is a very pretty fountain with carved architecture just around the corner from the Dom. Unfortunately, the fountain was not on while I was there.

Very German fountain. A must for anyone not from Germany. We happened across it wandering around. Read up on its history....

The story here is that benevolent creatures would come and clean the houses of all the people living in Cologne. This gave the citizens of Cologne an easy life. One night a curious woman strewed (uncooked) peas all over the floor of her workshop so the creatures would slip and fall and make nose so she could come running and... More
