This is a nice statue in the centre of the city. It is located in a square. When we went the square was the centre of the Christmas markets so it was not possible to see the statue in its normal state as it was surrounded by stalls and a light works.

We had lunch a restaurant next to the Beethoven monument in Munsterplatz Square, Bonn. It was a hot sunny day, so we sat in the shade, viewed the bronze statue of Ludwig van Beethoven and people-watched. Unlike most similar type statues of a person which sit on marble, stone or concrete base, the base on which Beethoven stands is also part of the bronze monument.

Bonn, Germany, is the birthplace of Ludwig van Beethoven. Although born in 1770, the exact date is unknown. His recorded date of baptism is December 17, 1770, and date of death is March 26, 1827.

A good photo op.

Impressive statue in the main town square/plaza area. Worth the photo opportunity you are visiting Bonn. Looks great set against the yellow building behind it.

The statue's fine, but the location in Munsterplatz is brilliant. We were there during the Christmas market, and of the 4 we saw down the Rhine, this was the best. Highly recommended. Want to go back.

Very nice statue, but gardens and plantings around make it extra nice!
The square was busy with people, but very clean, not full of garbage ir debris.
He was a master. Be sure to check out Beethoven Haus also.

The Beethoven Memorial in my hometown is an important landmark in my hometown Bonn. It stands on the Münsterplatz, the biggest place in Bonn, which is a beautiful urban spot in summer and winter. Through December the great composer stands in the middle of Bonn's well-known christmas market. At all other times of the year the statue is a perfect foto spot. At his back you see the beautiful old post office, which is from around 1750, a new building when Beethoven himself passed it (which he did quite often). The famous composer Franz Liszt donated a fortune for the memorial, which was given to the public with the participation of the British Queen Victoria and the German Kaiser Wilhelm IV 15 years after the death of Beethoven in 1845. In front of the Statue is the famous Bonner Münster, a church which foundations go even back to the 7th century. You get lots of history in just one spot, a nice selfie of you and Ludwig van Beethoven, and lots of impressions of the small but historical loaded city of Bonn. Don't miss it.
