While in Aachen the famous Doll Fountain (Puppenbrunnen) (1975) by the Aachen sculptor Boniface Stirnberg a playground for children and adults to play with. Each figure has a meaning and have movable joints and is a joy for all. Allow ~15 minute for your visit.

The Puppenbrunnen is a fountain on Krämerstraße, just at the junction of the street with the east side of Aachen Cathedral. Puppen is the German word meaning Dolls and you’ll know why the fountain is so named as soon as you see it. The fountain is an assemblage of bronze sculpture of dolls (in the generic sense of a child's toy model on a human). Some of the toys on the fountain include a horse and a rider, a joker, a female stall keeper, a priest, and others, but my favourite is the collection of theatre masks hung on a pole. Some of the dolls have movable joints, which child enjoy moving into “funny” positions.

The ensemble is very cute.

Aachen offers so many fountains. This one, close to the Cathedral, is very special as it shows different people of different professions. You can move the arms and legs so remodeling the statue. Kids do love to do so.
The place is surrounded by great shops and cafes.

Bronze monument in the city center with grotesque figures (or better puppets) in a small fountain. Really original representation of the life of the city.

Aachen is also called "City of Fountains". There seem to be some 90 fountains in the city, of which many in the center. This is one of the nicest. Beautifully situated in the Krämerstrasse, a small shopping street near the Cathedral. The fountain is worn out in a nice way from the many hands that have touched it. It is also a favorite place for tourists to be photographed.

Very funny fountain. It is in the city center, but not on a big square. You can move the hands and legs of the puppets, and if you close all the holes of the fountain, a rooster puppet moves up.

When I visited this fountain, it seems that the water pipes or some underground piping was under construction, there was the fountain was not working and it was dry. However you can still see the different figures.

The statue itself is an impressive feat of mechanical design and will entertain younger visitors. Blink-and-you'll-miss-it in the center of the old town. Cute for a photo.

It was a funny time spend in this place. We and our ten year boy liked it a lot. He enjoyed playing with these pupets.

This fountain has a whole cluster of brass puppets that anyone can manipulate their features. It makes the fountain always dynamic and lots of fun.
