The Elisenbrunnen is a Neoclassical building (and an okay one at that), that houses fountains of water piped from the natural hot springs for which the city is famous. The fountains are houses in the central semi-circular hexastyle portico with two arcade wings extending from...More

This is one of the places that I go to on a hot and sunny day. You can rest on the grassy field or even sit down at nearby cafés or bakeries like Nobis.

This is the way Aachen shows you her history. You walk into this beautiful building, you smell the sulfur and you read the names of the famous people who visited the health spa. Know your facts beforehand and this becomes a fun activity. A beautiful...More

Mineral springs may be good for health but they sure do nothing positive for the palate. Get a companion to taste it but have your camera ready to catch their expression!

Somewhat disappointed that this is a guilt edged opportunity for Aachen to promote....ordinary architecture and two taps giving out the water (bring your own drinking vessels !!)

Aachen sits atop mineral springs, and based on the smell inside the hall (where the spring water comes out of a tap), there is still plenty of sulfur in this water. There is a small structure built around the taps, although it would have been...More

Elisenbrunnen looks interesting and is in the middle of Aachen very close to the Aachen cathedral. If you look well, there is a pineapple on top of it. You have to see from a distance otherwise it is not possible to see. Inside it smells...More

Even with open structure, the rotten egg smell is still quite strong when you walk close to the building. In summer there are performances in the back lawn and it also has an early settle ruin, but really not worth more than 10 min stop.
