The first stop on our guided tour of Wismar was the Old Town market square. Here, our tour guide pointed out a number of features of historical interest located around the market square. Amongst them was the Alter Schwede, said to be the oldest house in Wismar. We found the unique and unusual exterior architecture of this building to be both appealing and fascinating. The building is certainly a good photographic subject for photographers and individuals with a keen interest in architecture. The old house is currently utilised as a restaurant. We only had cake/coffee/beer at this restaurant as they were fully booked in the evening. We sat outside in the Sun looking at the marketplace. The serving was excellent and the staff so kindly. We had a look inside and it seemed so nice with photos of the Swedish Royal family.

I had potatoes with matjas in cream with apple and sour cucumber and it was just like at my grandma's. My husband had a plate with various fish, very nice and fresh. Fish sticks of the kid were extremely pleasant, freshly made and juicy. Easy to find, nice service, good view. And fresh food - what to want more.…
