Surprise seaside street
Sep 2019
What a lovely surprise! A very pretty and extremely popular street lined with cafes, restaurants and shops. It's a five minute walk from the cruise terminal and when you've seen all there is to see there the beautiful beach, the teepott and the lighthouse are close by. Alter Strom is bustling and there's a great atmosphere, it really is a very nice place to visit.

Delightul stroll along this waterside thoroughfare
Sep 2019
It was early on a Sunday afternoon when we walked into Alter Strom, having walked there from our cruise ship and ferry wharf. It is well-located, just beyond Warnemunde train station. It was very busy but comfortable on a bright sunny afternoon. The array of shops of all kinds, cafes and restaurants was very inviting and people were relaxing and enjoying the afternoon. There was music and much to see and do, culminating in my wife purchasing a nice jacket (made in Poland) and a scarf. A very nice atmosphere pervaded. Highly recmmended for a visit, particularly when the place is alive, as it was at the time of our visit.

Not what we expected
Sep 2019
A very nice area of shops, bars and restaurants within walking distance of the cruise ship terminal. A lot closer than we expected. Well worth a visit.

Nice surprise
Jun 2019
Warnemunde was delightful - a lively, little seaside village bustling with tourists. Lots of little shops, restaurants, etc. I love how one end of the street takes you through a charming little neighborhood, and, at the other end, the street literally ends in the sand by the beach. Found a lovely pendant (sand jewelry) at Bernsteingalerie, one of the many cute shops along the way.

Beautiful village

Situated in the heart of Warnemunde, the Alter Strom is a street full of establishments...be it food, souveniers, ice creams and clothing. The atmosphere is very friendly. Scenic views of the port and an enormous beach at the end.

Try not to get mugged
Jul 2019 • Couples
This is a lovely place to walk along. Bars and cafes to have refreshments and small boats selling fish sandwiches from €3 upwards.
There were boats offering short tours all day long.

A word to the wise pay attention at all times. I had just got a sandwich when there was a strange push on my shoulder - It was a seagull going for my sandwich!
Then 30 seconds later another one tried!!

and NO they did not get my sandwich!!!

Lovely place to visit
Jul 2019 • Couples
Possibly the most surprising pace we visited on our Baltic Sea cruise was Warnemunde. It was a beautiful day and the Alter Strom was a nice place to walk. Very scenic, with lots of places to eat & drink.
PS. Watch out for the seagulls if you are walking with food!!

Beautiful little resort with shops, hotels and cafes, and the boats all moored up along the walk to the beach.

Warnemunde really is a beautiful town, so classic in design, not ultra-modern. Can easily spend a half day or more there if on a cruise. Its a short walk from the ship over the railway crossing to the old bridge over the fishing harbour with shops selling a wide range of things, ice-cream parlors, hotels and restaurants. Very friendly and helpful people there.

Lovely atmospheric quayside street.
Jun 2019 • Couples
This is a lovely seaside street along a river quay as it reaches the sea. Lots of shops and cafes here as well as the usual seaside souvenirs. Bucket and spades less visible than in the UK No games arcades which highlight the difference as to what the German wants from a seaside visit as opposed to the Brit.
Pleasant insight into a German life and yes, it does have a McDonalds. I preferred a bratwurst.

Great Time
Jul 2019 • Couples
We just happened to be in Warnemunde during a sailing regatta, so the place was full of people. It was well worth the stop and taking the time to wonder around. Right on a waterway with lots of boats, people restaurants, and shops to explore.

If you come by train or cruise ship it's within a 1/4-1/2 mile walk.
