Well, this was our first stop on our NCL Baltic cruise and most had recommended a tour to Berlin. Since it was a three hour train ride each way and then they bus you around Berlin, well that's not for us. We were so happy we stayed. We had a great breakfast in the ship, didn't wake up early and got the chance to explore this beautiful little town. This a beach town with a beautiful beach and fantastic harbor to walk and explore.
Great local very fresh food. We had fish, great salmon and sardines. The homemade sausages of different kinds are amazing and great complimented with local beers. This place is not expensive to eat and drink however it' s sometimes hard to communicate as very few speak English. Our fault as we dont speak German!
Don't forget the Ice-cream, amazing.
Consider staying here and saving on the costly and long tour to Berlin. Several of the people on the Berlin tour mentioned that if they knew how this place was they would have also stayed.
Do your homework research this place and you will agree with me.

This Grand lighthouse dominates the beach with it's Uniquely bricked facade. For just a few Euros climb up the stairs and witness the Beaches, Alter Strom, Old Towne and the Sea from the tower that took about three decades to build over a century ago. If you are at all physically challenged just imagine the views or walk across to the Teapot restaurant..

Side note: Just down the street from here is a unique Metal Sculpture("Warnminner Ümgang") worth seeing on Alexandrinenstraße. (see picture attached)

We stopped at Warnemunde on our recent cruise and unfortunately the weather was terrible. By the time the rain stopped, we only had about 90 minutes to explore this town before having to be back on the ship. We walked along the canal until we came across the lighthouse at the end of the town. Spend your time in the small shops and cafes if you are limited for time here as the shops offer nice souvenirs and the cafes offer nice choices for lunch and dinner.

Stopped here for a day on a Baltic cruise. Fun to climb the lighthouse and not expensive. Lovely views/interesting things to look at in all directions from the top.

arrived by cruise ship, first thought, is there anything here?....After a short walk under the train tracks and what a pretty place this is. Absolutly clean and tidy fishing/ boat trip port. NOT big, but very nice. I have never seen a spotless place... Is this German efficincy? The beach looked very appealing but sadly it was not warm enough due to the wind.

Near the steps leading up to the lighthouse, you will find a statue of the sun with indications of how far you will have to walk down the lane to see the other 9 planets (done when Pluto was still a planet). We did not manage to find any other planets, perhaps because our attention was not fully focused on that. Walking away from the lighthouse, we turned back to take more photos and my husband discovered that if I point my finger, it seems to be resting on top of the lighthouse. We had fun taking a few photos like that. We also turn to our left to see the windmill and a lovely park near the Neptune hotel, also to your left and of course the lovely beach to the right. Too much to see for just one day. Our ship was anchored till late, waiting for the people to come back from Berlin and we enjoyed every moment.

I'ts not often you see such a large lighthouse in a town centre. Warnemünde Lighthouse is a lighthouse situated on the estuary of the Warnow river in Warnemünde, a district in the borough of Rostock. The lighthouse has a height of 36.9 metres (121 ft) and was put into service in 1898.

Don't miss the old lighthouse of Warnemuende. It's open to visitors. You have a beautiful view and it's one of the historis places of Warnemuende.
