Warnemunde is primarily a German tourist town and universal English is not a part of your experience here. You can overcome this almost entirely with a stop at the tourist information on the way in. They have excellent English speaking guides and good suggestions about things to see in your limited time. They can give you guides and pamphlets in English with information and historical details. A stop at tourist information will really improve your visit to Warnemunde.

The staff spoke english, were friendly and provided advice on how to spend the day. They provide maps of the city. Easy to find location. They will suggest that you take the train into Rostock as I take it they are sister cities.

The number 1 place to call into, especially if you arrive by coach or cruise ship. Easy to locate by the central square. Free wifi is a bonus. Lots of souvenirs available to buy, as it doubles as a shop. Strange that we could not find any brochures / leaflets in English on the shelves, but this did not really matter, as the map we were shown and then given with explanations was perfectly sufficient. Suggested we do the Land Train tour at only €5 first, which we did. Saw how clean and attractive the old town was and got our bearings.

We visited the town of Warnemunde during a one day stopover here. We had an organised coach excursion in the afternoon and so took the opportunity to explore the town in the morning.
Leaving from the cruise terminal, the walk to town is not a long one and takes the visitor past the town’s railway station and crosses under the line via a subway. Note that there did not appear to an alternative route to this and the entrance and exit to the subway is via stairs.
From the station, the Tourist Information centre is located just across the bridge over the river in a white building on the left, a ‘Dotto’ train stops just outside giving rides around the town with a commentary in both German and English. The interior of the centre is not large, but there are a good selection of local souvenirs for sale (though we could not find any porcelain thimbles on the day of our visit), and also local tourist information. We had already picked up a leaflet earlier, detailing a self-guided walking tour of the town but assuming these are also available here, we would recommend first time visitors to do the same as it showed us the highlights of the immediate area.

Okay, you already know that this is the spot for free Wifi. The secret hint these folks gave me is that there are two bike shops in town that rent bikes for 10 Euros. This is a great deal for a whole day of riding. First bike the strand stopping to play on the beach. Skip the swimming. Its cold. Next, take the ferry (2.5 Euros each way) and bike on the other side of the river. There is a beautiful bike path that goes for miles and miles. Trust me, biking is the best way to see this charming town and the surrounding countryside.

Located right in the middle of town we were drawn there looking for information. Once inside we were helped by friendly staff that took their time explaining events or directions to you. Another plus is free WFI is available here. Time to check in with loved ones before heading out on our new adventure in Warnemunde.

While walking on very pleasant streets stopped in to tourist office.
Folks there were everything that a tourist information should be, it was enjoyable and informative, if they did not know they told you so. [Wife wanted Germany wool for knitting, no store in this little town]

We will be in Warnemunde on June 25. We were there years ago and I remember going to a
Very old pub. The tour guide said is was one of the oldest pubs in the world. Do you know the name and location? Thank you PMP

We will taking the Baltic cruise with Princess next month and will be in Warnemunde for a day. Our ship arrives at 7:00 AM and departs at 9:00 PM. Will we have time to visit Berlin and if so, what's the best way to visit Berlin for the day?

The only way I would do it is to take the Princess tour. It is a very long day like 13 hours. The train ride to Berlin is about 3 hours each way. It is a full day. Do not take a chance and do it on your own as if something happens you will miss the ship leaving at 9.

Is it possible to hire a taxi from the ship to take us around as my husband cannot walk far and a sightseeing tour is not an option. Sylvia
