This castle is nice day trip if you are going by the area. My partner and I had a nice visit here, entrance fee is 7Euros and lasts about half hour.

We arranged a car rental in advance so a car was waiting in the parking lot just across the road from the cruise terminal (P7)at Warnemunde. It is very easy to drive to Schwerin on the motorway and takes only about an hour. The castle has a really lovely cafe serving full meals located in the Orangerie. We rented audioguides... More

While part of the exterior is covered by scaffolding, there was still plenty left to see. With limited time on our port stop at Warnemunde, we took a taxi from train station to the castle and back, though it was a hike to get to the taxi stand to return to the station. Unlike many castles, this was equipped with... More

Our cruise wanted $179 per person to visit the castle from Warnemunde; this activity can be performed with our travelers and planned ahead of time for a lower cost. From looking at a map, we were not able to walk the expansive grounds that appear to be part of the property, but we were able to walk through the immediate... More

Yes, it's possible to get there from Warnemunde or Rostock port for much cheaper than the cruise line will offer! If you're lucky to buy a special DB (German train company) promotion all day group ticket (up to 5 people) you'll pay ONLY 39€ ROUNDTRIP ALL TOGETHER. Which is about 8€ each roundtrip! You can book it online or at... More

The Museum was 8€ pp and can be skipped if you r not a fan of old furniture, painted walls and armory. After spending ard 3 hrs in and around the... More

This palace was magical on the outside. The inside under going renovations, but still much to see. The architecture amazing. A museum inside with much to see. But what did it for me was the gardens and the lake. Weeping willow trees. Swans. Ducks. Statues in the grounds. Great views. Nice little cafe on tbe grounds to take it all... More

A great looking castle, which unfortunately had some renovation work going on when we visited. That aside, the gardens and surrounds were well kept, and offers good views.

Romantic looking castle on an island. The exterior of the castle and gardens are lovely, and it's worth a visit just for those. The interior of the castle has been partially restored, and has a bit of a Gothic atmosphere with its dark and austere rooms and walls.
