An unexpected gem

This building is a must see, inside and out if you're visiting Rostock. We were just wandering around the town and came across this beautiful building, with no signage to indicate what it was. Whilst admiring the outside we saw what looked like tourists (like us!) coming down the stairs. With confirmation that we could go in, we went through the first doors and asked at the office about visiting. We were told we could only look around the ground floor that we were on, and what a magnificent entry area it was. The building was the result of an architectural competition, and the architect Gotthilf Ludwig Mockel won 2nd prize for this building. It was built between 1889-1893. It has been used to house various institutions over the years and now houses the Higher Regional Court Tribunal. You really only need 5-10 minutes to admire the ground floor, and no photos were allowed when we were there. Go and enjoy this beautiful building.

Beautiful Building

This Court house is a beautiful building from the outside and situated opposite a park as you enter the Old Town of Rostock
