My wife, 9 ½ year-old daughter and I were sailing on a 14-day Baltic Cruise on the Holland America Ryndam and wanted to see Berlin when we docked in Warnemunde – but did not want to do so on a bus with 60 other people since we wanted more flexibility than an average bus tour can offer.
I searched the internet and luckily found Rostock Travel (http://www.rostock-travel.com/). From my initial contact with Thomas Morgenstern it was evident that I was dealing with a true professional and a company that was exactly the right size to offer the personal service we were looking for.
The morning that we arrived in Warnemunde Thomas was there waiting when we walked off the ship at 7:30 AM. The 2 hour drive to Berlin flew by as we talked with Thomas about all manner of topics. In Berlin we saw everything that you could possibly see in a day and Thomas made it all so easy by knowing exactly where to go, being able to drop us off immediately in front of the sights, being knowledgeable about the city, and by being extremely flexible on the plans and the pace. We even stopped by a grocery store to buy some wonderful German chocolate before getting back to the ship at 9:00 PM – having seen far more than anyone else on the ship had.
All in all, the tour was perfect, making the arrangements was easy, the cost was reasonable, and I was very confident before we walked off the ship that Thomas would take care of everything. I would highly recommend Rostock Travel to anyone looking for that special private tour.

For Cruise ship passengers arriving in Warnemunde there is an alternative to staying in the town, which is in fact quite pleasant.
Rostock is only a short train ride away, twenty minutes or so, a ticket for the train that includes Rostock trams can be purchased for a few euros, from the railway station next to the dock-- go down two levels in Rostock station and catch the number 5 or 6 tram and travel three stops, you are now in the old town and a short walk will take you to several places of interest.
If you find your way to the river side, just to the north a couple of blocks from St Mary’s church ( where the clock is worth a look ), you can catch the river boat that will take you back to the cruise terminal quay in just over one hour, for 10 euros-pay on the boat.

From our Cruise ship we walked into Rostock in about ten minutes, great place to be, loads of shops and restaurants along the waterfront, and very cheap. Every kind of shop you could wish for and also a street market held daily with bargains galore. Very picturesque waterfront which it where it all happens apparently. Clean and tidy and great place to be
Try it................................you wont be disappointed.

We hired Thomas to give us a tour from Rostock (Carnival Legend) to Berlin on July 30, 2013. We were nervous booking a private tour 2+ hours from the boat, but no regrets now after an amazing day.
Thomas greeted us promptly at the peer. He immediately made us feel like we were in good hands as his appearance was sharp and very professional. He brought us to his meticulously cared for Mercedes Benz van. To give you an idea of comfort, we were a group of six, two seniors, 2 teens, and 2 adults, and no one under 5'8" and two over 6'4", plus a guide once in Berlin, and we were all comfortable. Thomas is a very safe and careful driver, and we never felt nervous in the vehicle. His knowledge was amazing, and he was able to answer all questions effortlessly. And as for his English, he probably speaks better English than most North Americans.
After arriving in Berlin, we met our guide Summer. She is an American who has lived in Berlin for 5 years, and was very knowledgeable and friendly. Her pace of the tour was perfect - not too fast for the seniors, but busy enough to keep us moving. I would highly recommend you request her when you book with Thomas. She also recommended an amazing restaurant for a quick lunch, food was great and the owner very friendly.
Thanks all for an amazing day in Berlin!!

Travelled by tram for the day from Warnemunde (which is also a really nice little seaside town). Very relaxed and well worth a visit. Weather was great and the people very friendly indeed. Had a bite to eat and few beers in the main square. Not so much of the old town left but part of the city wall & towers still there !

We recently had the pleasure of the best tour guide I have ever met. We arranged a pick up at Berlin for a cruise in the Baltic Sea. On the return journey to Berlin ,we had arranged a private guided tour of that city. We were privileged to have Thomas Morgenstern as our driver/ guide. He was amazing, his knowledge was unforgettable. He had a album of before and after photos of many of city sights. He was better than "google", any question we asked he had the answer. I would recommend Rostock Travel and Thomas in particular.

Anne Kirchmann arranged for our guide Tobias to take us around both Warnemunde and Rostock with a 20 minute train ride between the two. What a perfect way to spend our day during a Celebrity cruise port day. We saw much more than those on the ship sponsored tour. We started with the adorable seaside village of Warnemunde. It's history as a seaside resort as a part of communist block countries is fascinating. Today it is just the cutest village with a small fisherman's market where they are grilling the freshest catch. Grilled eel anyone? We took the train and a tram on to Rostock to see old town Rostock this area has a wonderful historic town square which includes the oldest University in northern Europe and the find of the day . . . An amazing astronomical clock that is installed inside St Mary's church. Still working today with many, many moving parts, this is most interesting piece of ingenuity I have seen in a long time. It was created and installed inside this church in 1472. You must both see this clock and get a detailed explanation of its action in order to fully appreciate its complexity. If you want a great day in this coastal area call this group for a tour. Tobias adapted our tour to take more trams and less walking when he became familiar with the needs of our group. This tour included many World War II era discussions.

We (two couples traveling on a cruise together) decided to do the Warnemunde/Rostock day tour instead of the trip to Berlin (we visited Berlin for a week a number of years ago)- and are we glad that we did! Our tour guide Andreas had lived in the area all of his life, which enabled him to provide a unique perspective of the area encompassing its industry, history, economics, demographics and other defining characteristics. The tour was also very well paced and enabled us to cover a lot of ground. And our lunch of sausages, potatoes and beer in the heart of Rostock was delicious.

Hi - we will be docking in Rostock with our cruise. Will this tour pick us up there? A lot of the tours only go from Warnemuende. Thanks in advance.

We wish to schedule a tour for Berlin. My wife has limited mobility. She can walk with a cane but only short distances and we would rather avoid stairs if possible. Our Berlin interests are:
• Brandenburg Gate/Reichstag
• Checkpoint Charlie/Berlin Wall
• Jewish Museum
• Holocaust Memorial
• Drive through Unter den Linden boulevard.
• Schwerin Castle
We are on the Princes cruise ship we arrive at 7am (+ time to depart ship) and would prefer to be back on board 6pm. include some time for lunch and shopping would be ideal.
Does this make sense, does it align with you tours?

Could you tell me what the cost of your day trip was to Berlin from your ship?
Written March 14, 2018
We didn’t go though prices were crazy expensive (300-600 euros) considering long train or bus there so not that long in Berlin.
Written March 20, 2018
I didn't see any times or prices. Will you trips to Berlin, with a cruise ship departure time in mind?
Written March 21, 2017
I don't see any prices for the tour to Berlin, or times for pick-up etc
