We enjoyed a great walk around Rostock in the evening and the Kröpeliner Street was nice and quite making it easy to enjoy the buildings.

We arrived to Rostoch from Warnemunde by train it takes 25 min. And from the train station to Kropeliner strasse it takes 20 min walking or you can go by tram almost 3-4 stops. This is a long walking street with stores and cafes, and beautiful old building in the middle of the street there is a big square and a fountain.

Cozy pedestrian street through the old town of Rostock. The street is lined with the major shopping and food brands you will find in most cities. And also some nice speciality shops.

Kröpeliner Strasse is one of the main shopping streets of Rostock, and you will find a number of good shops. Also, there are some beautiful houses on both sides of the street.

A pedestrianised street and the main street of Rostock. A very lively place full of shops, restaurants, etc. It runs from the main square to the university building.

We had taken a guided tour to Wismar during the morning when our cruise ship was berthed in the port of Rostock. When our tour coach returned us to the port early in the afternoon, we hopped on a port shuttle bus which transported us into Rostock’s city centre.
After a short walk from the bus stop, we found ourselves in Kropeliner Strasse which is a long pedestrian mall where many of Rostock’s retail outlets are located. It was a Saturday and the street was quite crowded with locals and tourists out enjoying the spring sunshine.
We spent about 90 minutes in the pedestrian mall and in that time managed to walk the entire length of the street in both directions. While there, we popped into a few shops to purchase a couple of items.
About half way along the street we came across a small plaza area where there were street vendors selling food and beverages such as German hotdogs, ice-creams and coffees.
This street certainly proved to be the place to go for any tourist visiting Rostock who wanted to indulge in a bit of retail therapy!

From the fountain to New Market there are lots of shops and restaurants to look at on Kröpeliner Strasse. Of course, since Rostock was totally obliterated by bombing in WWII due to their aeronautics and naval facilities all the buildings are actually new. Our guide told us that Germans are the best at building new buildings that look old.

We were on a Baltic cruise but had been to lots of places in Germany before, and opted for Rostock because we had not been. The tour started on this main street, which was picturesque in line with other Hanseatic cities. Nice fountain, nice houses...passed the University and the Holy Cross Convent.

The street itself had a nice fountain and old town hall.
