It is a nice place to walk in a good weather or to read a book siting on a bench. The garden is quite big and that’s why calm. The part that imitated mountains and called Alpineum is the most attractive for me.

I was on a Baltic cruise and did these gardens as part of my tour of Rostock . The garden tour included being guided by one of the University's Doctor's of botany/biology which made it a fascinating and descriptive experience. However, the gardens are free to enter if you wish to do it on your own. They are an oasis of calm with birds singing, bees humming and frogs croaking in the ponds. Obviously very popular with local families. There is a large greenhouse which I did not get to see because there was just so much to see. the gardens are a real delight and I learnt about different micro environments and how the university use the gardens to teach students and educate the wider public about the dangers of losing habitats and insect species. In particular, cotton can be artificially pollinated but if a bee pollinates a cotton plant the cotton fibres are 50% longer and stronger producing far better cotton. It was an informative tour and I would highly recommend it to any cruise traveller.
