There was a lot I loved about here - the kids area were great, the architecture and grounds are amazing and helpful staff are everywhere. However, I left with a bad taste in my mouth because the VW commerical cars pavilion seemed to be missing much of what was described to be there and the parking cost far more than stated - we had to pay 10 euros instead of the 3 promised on the website or the 6 on signs at the park. It left a bad taste in my mouth which is a shame.

Being a car-head, the Autostadt was akin to visiting disneyland. The Autostadt has individual areas / museums for each of the VW brands & a 4D presentation for the Lamborghini supercar. Do not miss out on the Bugatti Zone.

A day can be easily spent at the Autostadt, if not more!

Both Factory Tour and Tower Tour were fantastic, but the Factory Tour is a must. VW factory is about the size of Gibraltar. Production is about the size of Mônaco. There is also the Car Museum that is very interesting. Factory Tour and Tower Tour has to be paid in addition of Autostadt Ticket and both require reservations in advance.

I've visited a lot of car museums in Europe and this was the most dissapointing experience in all of them. The museum is great - it's just small. Autostadt is a big facillity and I expected more. When building two is finished, the rest is a park with sales display of all the Volkswagen products. I really hoped it would be more. For a price of €18 - well it was not actually value for money. If you are looking for a new car and wants to see all the models in one place, maybe - as the personell is really plesent and professional.

As a Christmas present for my husband I organised a 4 day trip from Newcastle upon Tyne, England to VW Autostadt, Germany. It included a flight to Schipol Airport and then 2 train journeys arriving at our hotel in Wolfsburg. We had 2 full days at the Autostadt - the whole experience was fabulous, well worth it and the staff, restaurants and facilities were exceptional. Would thoroughly recommend - what an adventure!

A great place to come and visit. I love the fact school children come here to learn about history and more. The museum with vehicles is great, many are not from the vag family. Great park to sit and have a rest and the restaurant is great.
The factory tour is very good and gives you an idea how cars are put together.

Even without being a car fan, Autostadt in Wolfsburg has a lot to offer. I am often there on the weekends with my siblings and the kids. there is a lot for kids to do, especially on nasty rainy days. In the inter the ice track is amazing. For children to have fun and for parents to enjoy a good chant and a glass of glint wine. But there is also a playground inside, a VW merchandise show, a museum, coffee shop, nice park etc.

As a big VW/Audi Group fan, I had been looking forward to visiting the Autostadt for quite some time. I planned in a two-day visit to the Autostadt at the end of my holiday in Berlin.
We turned up at the Autostadt at about 12:30PM after taking the train from Berlin, and purchased two 2-day tickets. The receptionist who sold us the tickets told me about the Factory Tour which I was very interested in, and how they only had one english tour per day at 12PM which I found a little disappointing. He went on to say that that the next tour was tomorrow and to make sure we got a place we should turn up at 9am. The next day, my girlfriend and I awoke especially early to get to the Autostadt for 9am, only be told by another staff member that there was no tour! I was rather angry as this was one of the main reasons I came to the Autostadt, and if I had known there was no tour the next day I would have just joined one of the german language tours the day before!

The Zeithaus car museum was the highlight of our trip, with some lovely examples of iconic cars over the past 100 years. You can get up close to all of the cars which was refreshing as most other car museums place the cars behind barriers or ropes.

The Car Towers were interesting, but once again a lack of quality information ruined any chance of taking a ride in the tower elevator. Rides in the elevator are apparently available by reservation only, and was fully booked by the time we got there at 10am! None of the staff, Autostadt guidebooks or even the website offered information about the necessity to reserve far in advance for all the activities so we had again missed out on something we were looking forward to, even though we were coming back over 2-days.

The Manufacturer pavilions are little more than glorified showrooms, which is fair enough. However the Lamborghini pavilion was poor. There is nothing in it apart from a Murcielago bolted to the wall and a loud light show which had nothing to do with the car. Total disappointment when it was supposedly representing a brand of car many of us can only dream about.

The grounds of the Autostadt are immaculately kept and it is a nice place to spend an afternoon but the Autostadt doesn't offer enough for a 2-day trip. We left fairly early on the second day after exhausting all the exhibits. Food in the main restaurant was of a high standard albeit a little pricey.
In summary, if you are wishing to visit I would suggest visiting for a one day but phone ahead and book the tour, elevator ride and offroad driving experience well in advance of your trip.

This is a good, value for money day out but extremely difficult to navigate due to the fact that there are no signs anywhere or information telling you exactly what activities are on offer at the start.

On arrival by car there are three car parks which cost €3.00 for the day. Car park 1 is closest to the main entrance and exit. We parked in car park 2 and although there is an entrance/exit adjacent to this one if you need to buy entrance tickets then you need to walk all the way around the outside to the main entrance. Upon exit there is no obvious sign as to where the pay machine is located for the car park ticket and although it would make sense to locate it by the exit turnstiles it isn't there so it took a lot of driving around to find where it was hidden away over the other side of the car park.

Once we finally found the entrance we purchased a family ticket for €30.00 which included a €5.00 restaurant voucher.

The main building resembles an airport. We were directed to a large hall at the end of the building where we needed to use our entry tickets at machines on the door to allow us to enter. Once inside we asked a member of staff where the toilets were as we could still not see any signs and were directed back out of the hall to the cloakrooms downstairs.

When we returned to the hall we discovered from the map that we were actually in the GroupForum/+Piazza. There was a shop to one side and a pizza restaurant to the other. At the far end were several "Beetle cars" with large computer "windscreens" where children can practice their driving, a large climbing playground, a children's library room and staff sitting at a couple of desks with no obvious sign as to what they were doing there. We noticed that every so often groups of children were meeting at one of the desks so we asked what was happening and learnt that it was a driving school for children where they could take a real driving test and get a driving license. The lessons seem to run every half hour and you need to register for example at 12.00 for the 12.30 lesson. The children are taken firstly to a side room to learn the highway code and then are taken outside to drive electric cars around a mini city. At the end they get a real card license with all their details on.

The rest of the park is found by exiting the main building the other side to the entrance again using the entry cards at the machines on the door. Once outside the path leads you naturally around all of the gardens to each of the other exhibits. The Zeithaus has a good collection of different cars but you are not allowed to touch the displays so there are no photo opportunities sat for example behind the wheel of the DeLorean DMC-12 pretending to be Marty McFly!

The car manufacturer exhibitions are literally car showrooms but with varying levels of interaction depending on the prestigiousness of the brand it seems. The Skoda was the most basic and our children found the Audi and VW the most interesting. Unfortunately we didn't get time to take any tours or do the car tower ascent as these were not explained to us when we purchased our tickets so we had no idea how to join these.

We used our €5 voucher in the Pizza restaurant. We had a little wait for a table to be available as most of them were reserved and again we didn't realise that this was recommended as this was never pointed out. Children are able to make their own pizza with the chef bringing out the dough balls and helping them to knead and shape the pizza base. The pizzas were very delicious but a little cold by the time they were served to us probably because there appeared to be only one waitress at the time we were there.

Overall we had a good day but they seriously need to invest in providing signposting as we often ended up in areas which appeared to be staff areas as it wasn't always obvious where the public areas were. The lack of information also means you need to ask everywhere you go exactly how everything works and it is easy to miss things that are on offer. A 2 day pass would probably be more suitable to people with children who want to experience absolutely everything.
