I've visited a lot of car museums in Europe and this was the most dissapointing experience in all of them. The museum is great - it's just small. Autostadt is a big facillity and I expected more. When building two is finished, the rest is a park with sales display of all the Volkswagen products. I really hoped it would be more. For a price of €18 - well it was not actually value for money. If you are looking for a new car and wants to see all the models in one place, maybe - as the personell is really plesent and professional.

There was a lot I loved about here - the kids area were great, the architecture and grounds are amazing and helpful staff are everywhere. However, I left with a bad taste in my mouth because the VW commerical cars pavilion seemed to be missing much of what was described to be there and the parking cost far more than stated - we had to pay 10 euros instead of the 3 promised on the website or the 6 on signs at the park. It left a bad taste in my mouth which is a shame.

They would not allow us to go on any tours that were in German if you did not speak fluent German. All the available tours were only in German so we were not allowed to do anything except look around the lobby and then we went home. We would have been happy to just go along and look even if we could not understand what the tourguide was saying. They said it was because if there was an emergency then we would not be able to understand directions. However all the staff were fluent in English so I'm sure this would not really have been a problem. An emergency can also happen on the train to Wolfsberg and its not as if DB only allow fluent german speakers on the train. The whole experience was humiliating and seemed to be saying 'you shouldn't be in germany if you cant speak german' even though this is supposed to be a tourist attraction and most foreign tourists cant speak fluent german. Between my wife and I we have owned six audis, all bought new and we were feeling excited to see the factory but the negative experience left us feeling like we would never buy another one. A strange experience considering that VW is the worlds largest car company. Perhaps they should look at how Disney treat foreign tourists.

The signposting is almost nonexistent so makes getting anywhere difficult. The staff at Gut Essen were happy & helpful but the food wasn’t, as the Chicken Legs we had were dry & almost inedible. The coffee at Erste Sahne was really good but you can’t get there till you’ve paid to get in. The Zeithaus Museum was pretty good & watching the cars being parked in one of the towers was the highlight of the experience. The Autostadt appears to just be a place to go if you want to buy a new car. If you’re interested in VW & its history do yourself a favour & go to the Stiftung AutoMuseum Volkswagen – an excellent museum with lots of history.

We were here in 2017 and were very impressed back then so we wanted to see how things had evolved. Sadly the number of cars to view seemed to have dropped significantly and 2 exhibits were closed.
There were a lot of places for children to play and im sure families with small children will be entertained for a day. We took a tower tour and the very competent guide gave us a lot of information about the factory, its history and its workers. As an engineer, i was impressed by the buildings but please put some more cars in there, way more cars, or we are never comming back.

I've been here twice now, once in about 2010 and this year (2023). I was disappointed that the park hadn't really developed in thirteen years and it feels a bit light on content/interactivity for children.
Worth visiting if you are a car fanatic, especially the museum, but otherwise a bit underwhelming.

As a Christmas present for my husband I organised a 4 day trip from Newcastle upon Tyne, England to VW Autostadt, Germany. It included a flight to Schipol Airport and then 2 train journeys arriving at our hotel in Wolfsburg. We had 2 full days at the Autostadt - the whole experience was fabulous, well worth it and the staff, restaurants and facilities were exceptional. Would thoroughly recommend - what an adventure!

I am not at all a car buff, but I still enjoyed visiting the Autostadt. There are so many different things to see and do, plus plenty of places to stop for food and drink that it is hard to get bored. The historic cars and brand pavilions could have more interactive displays, but overall, it was very interesting to walk around and look at all the different sections. The giant slides outside were also fun for both kids and adults.
We also did the VW factory tour (in German) - very interesting to see inside the factory and learn some 'fun facts.' However it was sometimes hard to hear the driver with all the other noise around.
Overall a good day out for the whole family with a lot of different exhibits and "rest stops" so you can break up your visit.

Amazing place! We spent 7 hours there instead of the planned half-day. Kids tried driving simulators, climbed in cars, dug in the sand, played in the two playgrounds, bounced on water pillow, played with water sprayer, rode a ferry and pedal boat and overall had a great time. Shame big slide was closed dure to overheating in the sun. Amazing place to visit with little kids!

The VW website states that the factory tour is available in english but unfortunately this is not the case. During our visit we were shown away after having travelled all of the way from South Africa, this is bitterly dissapointing especially taking into consideration that everyone we spoke to at the Autostadt were bilingual and could speak english but were not willing to assist or accommodate us. Utterly dissatisfied

I plan to visit Autostadt with my husband and 2 kids (11 and 9 years) on a weekday at the beginning of july. There is a 2 hour adventure tour option at 11.30 - what does this include?
Thank you!
Written June 17, 2018
Sorry, but I don't know anything about it and can't find much of anything on their website. What they do show for 11:30 doesn't sound like enough to last 2 hours. I would think you should e-mail them directly to see what they say.

Hi there, just looking at your review - we’re trying to work out whether the $200 AUD train ride from Berlin to visit the Autostadt + entry fee will be worth it. We’re especially interested in the factory tour. Approximately how long was it; was it interesting with lots of info? Are there long queues to go bobsledding? Thanks for any advice you can offer - it’s a lot of money all up and the reviews seem very mixed. Karen

We only did the tower ride, you go up on one of the car collector things in a glass box. I personally think if you are really into cars it’s worth it. I would however recommend if you do like an old car, the nearby Volkswagen museum. Much more of a variety of cars.
If you like Volkswagen Audi group it’s an adult theme park.
I can’t say much more than that I’m sorry to say. The whole place is just nuts! I really enjoyed myself being. VW nut!!! The tower is worth every penny.
Food and drink is expensive but take your own and you will be good to go.
I think the question I would ask is ‘how much do you love cars?’
I hope that has helped a little. Sorry I can’t tell you more x

hi, planning to visit vw factory and autostad on 14th june. ritz carlton prices have hiked up by double, any other recommendation to stay? also we will be staying in berlin for 2-3days. can we do a day trip to autostad n vw factory?
Written May 11, 2017
when you stay in Berlin, you better stay in Berlin. there is so much to see. (and also to avoid traffic jambs. I did wait for booking via booking. com, and could have 45%reduction and did pay 285€for a doubleroom in Ritz Charlton. I did book the day before arrival.

The factory tour is free and you can only get tickets on the day from the main reception area....check the website for tour times and be aware places are limited so aren't guaranteed.

I'm afraid you have to go to your nearest Volkswagen dealership for that. To my knowledge a manufacturing plant do not conduct any direct sales. Their dealerships are tasked to do that.
