If you go into the Friedenszimmer they have the most magnificent record of the peace treaty - they have protraits of all the kings/queens that signed it. This is a very large part of the history of modern Europe - a good one to educate this kids on when visiting! They also have an impressive model of the old town upstairs!

Visited 30 years ago and wanted to revisit while I was in the area. The receptionist gave virtually no info. Little English spoken. None of the exhibits have English explanations. The model of the Rathaus isn’t there. Interesting display of artefacts and paintings and the main hall , seating, pictures and so on were a great view. Free to enter but I do think they could make more of it.

This is a great place to spend an hour or two looking at the history of Osnabruck. It is hard to believe that the place was practically destroyed by allied bombing during the war years and restored to its original condition. If your in Osnabruck take some time to visit and you will not be disappointed.

I was treated to a 90 minute tour with a local. guide and was utterly fascinated by both the history that has made up the. place. Careful post-World War reconstruction connects you well with the past, flavored perhaps even better by new creative architecture blending into the scene.

You can go into this city hall and see exhibits related to the Treaty of Westphalia. There are documents and other historical artifacts in several rooms. It's small but interesting and worth seeing.

What an interesting building form the model inside to the few little rooms that tell a story. Then go so the large meeting room which is also used for balls. If you are very lucky you will see a wedding taking place. Well worth a visit.

The treaty ending the Thirty Years' War was signed here, so do not miss the doorknob on the main entrance with the dove and the word "Frieden" (Peace) on it. The architecture inside and out is wonderful, as are the chambers, paintings, and exhibits. Visit might take less than an hour.

The Rathaus is a fascinating mix of history, architecture and models. The people working were helpful in explaining what to see and what order to proceed around the building. There is a room dedicated to the Westphalia Treaty which ended the Thirty Years War and was signed here (and in Munster down the road). There is also a lot of local history of the development and settling of Osnabruck. It is a nice stop.
