We have been in Hamburg Rathaus Christmas market. And in Hannover. Hamburg is quite different than Hannover.

Outstanding Christmas market can be found in Hannover. Lovely decorations all around, with many local products, food and drinks. Hot chocolate is amazing. Christmas market is not centraly located, but is on many squares around the city centre, the best one, in my opinion, being...More

Have been to a few Christmas Markets in the U.K. but they pale into insignificance when you experience this one... It must have 1000 stalls, in many locations throughout the town, from the many gluhwein stalls, food stalls, christmas decorations, wood carvings, the list goes...More

I've never been to a Christmas market but I can't wait to go back. The crowds, the markets, music, dancing and decorations all aligned to make for a very merry visit. Schnitzel and mulled wine were everywhere as were lighted trees. No commercialism here, just...More

A lovely christmas market, it has different stalls which are beautiful and it has a variety. The prices here are good and we visited around four times.

Over the years I've visited a lot of Christmas markets in Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and France. And I like the Christmas markets in Germany the most. And this one in Hannover is a very good one. The market consists of a number of small markets...More

This is such a cute Christmas Market. Very old world and not claustrophobic as some can be. Vendors are nice and have a great variety of items. We especially loved the Cheese and Gingerbread vendors. Definitely gives one the glimpse of what Christmas markets were...More

Brussels Christmas Market (2 Replies)
Hi, I was wondering, will the Weihnachtsmarkt be open on Christmas day? I understand it will also be open until December 31st as advertised, but would all the stalls still be open after Christmas day? Because in some towns/city, only a fraction would, despite the advertisement says the otherwise. Thank you

Thank you, Qaminari :) I was referring the website (I forgot which ones) advertisement that, yes, clearly says the accurate dates (until Dec 31st). But I also learned even though Strasbourg's Marché de Noël website says that they will open until December 30th and only closed on 25th, but apparently most of the stalls would remain closed after December 23rd/24th. I just wanted to make sure if the same thing wouldn't happen in Bruxelles, since I really look forward to experience the famous...More

Nuremberg or Rottweil (Black Forest) in Early December (2 Replies)
My wife and I are taking a rail trip through Germany in early December. Would I be better off visiting Nuremberg and the famous Weihnachtsmarkt there or visiting Rottweil near the black forest? Nuremberg might be very crowded versus the more provincial Rottweil. I have a maximum of two days to invest in one of these towns. I have time to visit one of them, but not both, as I work may way through Germany by train. Which should I choose? Ideas? Fuzzythumb

Hi Fuzzythumb, I know Nuernberg very well as I live here. Nuernberg is not crowded at all. This is the most perfect setting for a pre xmas trip. Lots of history but also great shopping, trendy and modern .. Also great hotels, too... d
