What a very interesting museum showing the history of Hannover in a very good and pleasant way. It is on about 3 floors with a track to follow.

Visited to avoid the rain, it was very interesting and informative. It is a well laid out museum with lots of information in English, very useful if you don't speak much German.

Great museum with some interesting features, and very cheap at only 5EUR per adult. My only criticism would be that most of the literature is written in German with no translation to English. Well worth a visit if you are stuck for something to do!

Housed on several storeys around an open quadrangle, this modern museum is situated on Pferdestrasse in the old quarter. It's within easy walking distance of the Marktplatz and the Marktkirche. With lots of natural and artificial light and excellent models, displays, pictures and artifacts, this museum traces most aspects of the long history (950+ years) of the city, including the... More

5 euros isn't much for a museum. located in the old town center, running into other historical sites on the way is nice. excellent cafes and restaurants around too. you can easily walk around in under an hour but to listen to the audio tracks and read, half a day can easily wash away. i would recommend going on a... We love local history museums and this one has a great collection of artifacts, photos, paintings which are nicely presented. The museum stresses its connection to English royalty so we were disappointed and surprised that there was no attempt to give much information to an Anglo visitor. Numbers for the audio guide did not match the displays and the guide... More

I spent half a day here. You can get an interesting visual summary of the city. Paintings, sculptures, household furniture, industrial products and more. Definitely must see.

Amazing museum about the History of the city of Hannover (and surrounded rural areas on the last floor). Perfect complement to the Herrenhausen Museum if you want to understand how Hannover went from a small merchants medieval city to the Throne of Great Britain! Be aware: The museum is bigger than it looks! I spent more than 5 hours in... More

Fascinating. Great displays of aspects of Hannover's history - inspired me to do some research! Excellent audio- guides. Few of the staff have much English - and why should they? It's their country! - but were happy to try and underdtand us and inform us. As a bonus, folding seats were plentiful for those (like me) with unreliable legs! Well... More
