There are many so called hot springs that you have to take someone's word that one it was maybe Lukewarm. This fountain is steaming in front of you. Do your have and it is genuinely hot! During carnival season, might not be the best time to taste!

The Kochbrunnen fountain on Kranzplatz a place often frequented by the health-conscious and tourists. It is Wiesbaden's most famous thermal spring, because this prolific spring emits thermal water said to have a whole series of health benefits. Only a small portion of the water feeds the drinking fountain in the Kochbrunnenpavillon and the Kochbrunnenspringer. Most of the water is diverted to the treatment plant at the Kaiser-Friedrich-Therme. From there, it moves on to the city's thermal water network, which branches out in all directions. It is used both for healing purposes and to heat the Wiesbaden town hall, and a couple of other locations in the city.
Kochbrunnenspringer. The sinter is formed by the mineral deposits in the water. which Wiesbaden was famous in Roman times and which were used to dye hair. The reddish-yellow layer increases in thickness by seven centimeters per year. It needs to be removed regularly so that it does not crush the shell-shaped fountain.

Open air thermal water fountains and drinking fountain. Interesting to see after reading up on the history. We will take visitors to see this when they come to town.

Right in downtown opposite the State Chancellery is a well with one of the hot springs Wiesbaden is famous for since many centuries - a stone with an inscription from the Roman occupation 2000 years ago show that the healing water was already used then. The well is under an historic roof. Another hot spring is next to the Kochbrunnen where the hot water leaves red stains on the basin as the water contains ore. A small park with some open air restaurants is adjacent

It was famous even in Roman times, more than 2000 years ago. It contains iron and manganese, among other valuable minerals. The water temperature in the thermal pools is around 32

I have actually been to Wiesbaden numerous times over the last 40 years, and I never tire of visiting this place. The hot mineral water is just bubbling up in front of you and you can visualize a roman soldier bathing in this water at this location. Even the mineral smell harkens back to olden times.

A so called "must see" in Wiesbaden. In the city center opposite the "Staatskanzlei of Hessen" you find the "Kochbrunnen", a water source which produces 67° C hot water, containing healthy natrium-chloride minerals which is supposed to have healthy effects..
