The city center of Wiesbaden is a gem, beautifully arranged and a pleasure to stroll. Like many other big cities, shopping is the main activity, but Wiesbaden has such a glorious history that nearly every building has a distinctive trait that makes the whole area unique. To be fair, even the main arteries leading to the city center are amazingly preserved and a joy for the eyes. The use of the pink stones gives the whole area a very unique feeling (as is Mainz and Heidelberg). A 2 to 3 days stay is recommended to fully appreciate this one of its kind city. As by june 2021, covid-19 restrictions have been partially lifted, mouthmasks are only mandatory in enclosed spaces and outdoor markets.

Wilhelmstrasse is a representative boulevard in Wiesbaden, which starts at the intersection with Taunusstrasse and Sonnenberger Str. in the north and ends at the intersection with Rheinstrasse in the south. The first plans for the road date back to 1806, when an avenue road was planned between the spa and the newly constructed Friedrichstrasse. The later boulevard, which was covered with trees only on one side, was planned and laid out in 1810 by the city architect Christian Zais. Since 1820, the street has been named after Prince William I, who ruled the Duchy of Nassau from 1816 to 1839. The street runs north-south and forms the border between the old town of Wiesbaden in the west and the spa and villa area in the east. There are many elegant shops and cafes on the street. In the northern part, on the eastern side of the street, there is the Bowling Green fountain square, and on the western side, the luxurious Nassauer Hof hotel. South of Bowling Green there is Warmer Damm Park, and at the very end of the street the construction of the modern building of the Naubau Museum Reinhard Ernst, which is scheduled to open in 2023, is being completed.

You cannot possibly come into this historic square without being taken aback by the sense of history or the sense of culture that abounds. Even the local shops have a personality all of their own - if a teeny bit expensive and snooty!
This is a must visit anyway, but come at Christmas and you will exhaust yourself and your group with the splendid array or food, drink, colour, characters and activities.
It is a must do and if you don't touch the gluweins of any 'colours' - more fool you!

So beautiful and tall! This cathedral can be seen all over Wiesbaden with it's stunning spires. When we went, there was a man playing a trumpet outside.
We got so many great pictures!

In a nutshell, Wilhelmstrasse is Germany's very own Rodeo Drive. While more reasonable shopping may found in the nearby centrum, visitors should expect to pay top dollar for some of the fashion industry's leading brands including Prada and Gucci. The street is lined with beautiful trees, has amazing architecture and always something going on. Perfect year round and for all ages.

One of my favorite places to go! So many places to shop and a lot of dining! I love this part of town. I would highly recommend this area if visiting Wiesbaden! Tip: parking under the casino is easier than other parking garages that are further away. Not everyone knows about the underground parking when first visiting this area.
