As part of a bus tour of Germany, two adults visited this museum in May and had an independent tour in English that lasted over 60 minutes. Extremely interesting storyteller (as the younger brother to the more famous Brothers Grimm), portrayed by Dr. Wolfgang Schmelzer....More

We were really looking forward to the Grimm museum but were greatly dissapointed. There was lots of information to read about the Grimm brothers and their family, and we did learn some interesting facts about their lives. However, we felt that the whole experience lacked...More

I took my 9 year old daughter who, after being given a mystery challenge sheet to fill in, was super excited to see this museum. We both found it amazing and educational, there was plenty I didn’t know about the brothers Grimm! Also as opposed...More

We had a terrible creepy experience at this museum. Staff constantly follow you around staring at you and your kids (particularly worrying). I complained and in no uncertain terms was told "that is the way it is done in Kassel". The exhibits are really boring...More

I was looking forward to visiting after reading several reviews in travel books and online. I was underwhelmed. Maybe if I spoke German fluently I would've liked it more. Beautiful space, but most of the display was the alphabet and dictionary work interspersed with bits...More

This museum has an amazing collection of items detailing the Grimm brothers life and works. The top floor mainly displays the many notes the brothers wrote to keep track of their writing...a bit dull for kids and non German speakers. The lower floor was more...More

If you are expecting a fairy-tale museum, do not visit. The Grimm Brothers were about much more than the fairy tales they collected, and this museum is a reflection of that. As a writer and self-professed word nerd, I found this museum inspiring. To learn...More

We actually went to Kassel expecting to see an old city center and I really wanted to see Grimmweld. I was hoping to read/see things behind the original story-telling from Brothers Grimm. First off me and my wife weren’t let in, because we brought two...More

Yep, no need to make reservations - and I agree with Pieternel, only the basement is a bit adapted for young children. The other floors are quite intellectual - but extremely interesting!
