We drove from downtown Kassel up to the castle. There was a gate arm obstructing the road, and it wasn't clear why. We parked about 1/4 mile back down the road and followed what looked to be a path up to the castle. There, we...More

Kids were excited to have inside look of the castle. It is beautiful castle indeed but during our visit, most of the part of the castle was under construction. we spent around 30 min and left the place disappointed.

A romantic mock-medieval castle build in the late 18th century is featuring the style of a much older medieval knight's castle. You can only visit alongside a tour. Usually crowds are small, so do not worry. However, inform yourself ahead on tour schedules. A beautiful...More

This place is awesome and Hesse is doing a very important restoration that I hope will help it rival some of the Bavarian castles. Nice views and a great little garden to wander around plus the hike in the forest is nice.

The castle is smaller than some of the more famous castles, and there was no guide available when we went. We also weren't charged to get in. There was a vending machine on site. The view from the castle was absolutely incredible, better than the...More

Bice historical place. Good to visit. The place carries so much information of the history. Importantly nearby to many other visiting places in the Bergpark.

This is closer towards the bottom end of Bergpark Wilhelmshohe. We walked around and took some pictures. They were doing some renovating. We didn't get the inside tour because we didn't want to spend the extra money. They did have bathrooms, thank goodness! Even if...More

Löwenburg castle is small and beautiful. Opening hours are 9-15 weekdays. The park around it is spectacular and lovely!

A piece of history, a hidden gem into a splendid park. The Castle is rebuilt, but in a very nice and good way

It's a couple minutes of hiking/steep walking even if you parked as close to the castle as possible. We had to climb a couple set of stone stairs (around 5 or 6 steps each).

Five days total in Germany (6 Replies)
I'm traveling with my 12 and 17 year old sons to Germany. We only have 5 days. The boys are huge soccer fans and wanted to watch a game in Munich, but we were told that their season is over in March. We arrive in mid June. I would like to take them to castles, and historical WW2 sights, along with beautiful villages. Originally I was thinking flying into Frankfort, going to Rothenberg, Lowenburg Castle, then onto the Munich area, Bavaria. Is it worth just staying in the Munich area for the...More

The Bundesliga season ends in mid-May but you could still take them on a tour of the AllianzArena, it's worth a visit by itself.
