Parked at the bottom, took a slow walk up with my cameras, enjoyed a beer break half way up. Enjoyed another beer at the excellent restaurant at the top. Then walked down as the waters were running and took some very good photos.

I went on a beautiful sunny day in August with my mom. Since she is not so good on food we started our afternoon at Wilhelmshöhe Castle and walked around there to see the big water fountain. The park is beautiful and well maintained and good to walk for older people or people in a wheel chair. i would recommend to go on weekdays. I found weekends are to crowded. We finished off with a nice cool Beer in the Park Hotel's Beer garden just beside the Castle. It was a nice afternoon and I will definitely go there again.

Be sure to go into the visitor centre! Their is a movie in a big screen on a loop explaining in more depth the marvel of these waterworks. The WC facilities are kept tidy too. On a clear day the view below will take your breath away. A must see!

This is a wonderful spot for an afternoon walk, accompanied by the water tumbling down the hill from the gargantuan statue of Hercules, and also accompanied by several hundred other tourists - probably several THOUSAND in high season. The popularity of this Unesco World Heritage site is well justified: it is an astonishing feat of hydraulic engineering, and of course also a fantastic example of the lord of the manor letting the neighbours know who has the biggest and best landscaped garden in all of Hesse. Well worth a visit, but make sure you turn up on time, so that you can follow the whole programme (it lasts more than an hour) from top to bottom. And take a camera!
