Walked the hard way up to the monument. (Reviewed as well). Which becomes more impressive the closer you get. A good camera with a zoom lens helps. The monument building is undergoing serious restoration and there is a guided way to the top level and...More

Make sure to do the climb to the statue first and then pay a visit to the museum. The climb is steep but offers breath taking views. Remember to carry you Zoom lens. The Water fountains which runs from the Herkules is now on open...More

When we visited in August, this was undergoing repairs and so some parts of this site were closed. I am sure it must be worthwhile when in operation. You can climb up the monument for a fee and climb down the side of the water...More

I studied King Herkules whenI was young, and now I saw his stature. It was under construction for many years but we had a good time.

Unfortunately when we visited the whole building was undergoing massive Restoration so nothing was really accessible nor could you really see it all very well. Impressive, bit pompous but that is the style of the whole area.

A great location on top of the hill, overlooking the extensive water features flowing down all the way, the city of Kassel in the distance. This massive 18th century Herkules structure is already 12 years being restored and still not finished. The impressive water features...More

Visited this place many years ago. Impressed! Impressed this time too. Just a little disturbed by renovation work and cranes. The statue and the whole park are huge.

No stroller way down by the water, but do check when the water will be on. I think it is Wednesday and Saturday. Better still look at the top and then catch the free bus to the bottom.

Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe in December (0 Replies)
I would like to know if the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe in Kassel is worth a visit in December. I am going to be in Göttingen for a couple of days and thought of catching a train/tram/bus up to the Herkules statue and walk downhill. I know that in Winter there are no water displays. Does that mean that there are no waterfalls and that the fountains, ponds and caves are all dried up? Thanks
