I speak no German but was able to figure out most of what I was looking at. Extremely well done exhibits on the World War II era. The video screens with the evolution of the mediaeval town or fascinating. I couldn't believe how good the portraits of 17th and 18th century nobles were. The section on the Industrial Revolution was also very and lightning. There is an amusing portrait of a man and his wife who became rich during this time. You can also start their portrait in another exhibit nearby. Fantastic job with video interviews of people who live through WWII in Kassel and with the treatment of Jews and other quote undesirables and quote during this time. Fantastic three-dimensional models of both the Old (medieval) Town and of Kassel after the bombing.

The museum presents remarkable displays on the history of Kassel. I wasn't aware that Kassel had been bombarded like Dresden. Too bad that the captions are not also in English!

We went to the Stadt Museum not really knowing what to expect, but what we found was excellent. Lots of well presented and informative exhibits. Particularly liked the war section, which has old nazi memorabilia. Also very sad to see the model of how Kassel looked after the war. All in German so if you are not as lucky as I and don't have a friend who could speak German, then you may struggle to understand the descriptions. Overall though very good.
