I saw "Martha" by von Flotow here. Although the opera was once very popular, it is not performed often now so it was great to finally see it. The production was very well done and made for amusing theater with a lot of tongue-in-cheek comedy. Singing was excellent and the orchestra was in good form. It was a very enjoyable... More

Although the performance seemed enjoyable, we were very negatively surprised by the absence of subtitles, although the tickets stated otherwise. As an answer to our complaints, the theater has claimed that it was a "printing mistake", which we find rather unprofessional for an opera house of such standing.

I managed to get a ticket directly before the show from a guy who sold his last minute... What an evening in the FRANKFURT OPERA HOUSE!! Once again an overwhelming production.... Hardly ever leave that opera house disappointed!! I've heard though, that iT#s probably going to be torn down to be rebuilt!! Discussion is still going on and nothing has... More

Went to the cafe for drinks and a late snack with friends, surprised to find there was a live show starting just as we arrived. It was really entertaining, service was good, prices quite high but good value considering. Standing room only after half an hour, a very pleasant evening.

The quality of the ensemble was superb. We watched Wozzek, which is quite difficult to perform, especially for the orchestra, but they truly did a great job. The theater is ok, acoustics are not the best I've ever experienced. There are some spots especially on the sides, where you really can't see at all and for 50 EUR!!! I strongly... More

A really modern building just conveniently located in the central business district right across a tram line. However, it's very open and spacious. Very modern building and also 15 walk from frankfurt Hauptbahnhof.

If you are culture fan, you are in the right city and in the right place. It might be a bit hard to park without having to spend a bit. But the cultural level might compensate it as this is a very nice and modern opera house surrounded by the city center.

Last season (2014/15) it was the best Opera House by the Opernwelt critics. They have wonderful program and there are a lot of world famous singer who started their carrier in this opera house. We had 2 excellent performances at our last visit - Verdi: Stifellio and Puccini: Il trittico. Wonderful performances.

Normally when I review opera houses I focus on the performances - after all, those are what you go for. However, there are a few points I'd like to make about this opera house before I get to those... 1) It's a fairly modern house, and, for 3 different performances we sat in three different areas. For the first we... More
