Very informative, quite interactive, does not necessarily jump at you as the coolest museum in the world, but once you start getting into it, you can't stop. We actually live in Frankfurt (we are not German) and we found so much we did not know about the town. Went with husband and two children, a teen and a nine-year old. The teen was really into it, the younger one enjoyed plenty of kid-oriented games, etc. The disappointing part was the beginning with the snow ball, not enough information, just some models of houses with little explanation. Don't let it discourage you, go up! We did not take the tour and found the exhibition a bit confusing, but I think the idea is that it is built around themes rather than chronology, and once you get used to it, you start enjoying it. Definitely worth a visit!

It's a great museum and offers plenty to see. There are "free" lockers where you can put your backpack and clothes. The model of the old town as it was before the war is awesome. Note: If you want to see just the model or some particular thing in the museum, you should go there not before one hour before the closing time and you get a half price ticket! One hour is barely enough to see the whole museum, though...

While I did find the items in this museum interesting I thought it was badly layed out and a bit confusing. The one thing I was really disappointed in was the staff.I took a photo with my flash on (I didn't realise it was on) which the lady mentioned was now allowed I apologised and said I didn't realise my flash was on.she then stopped me again and told me I would be put out if I did that again.for the second time I apologised and said I didn't realise the flash was on then she pointed at a camera and told me I was being watched.not only did this ruin my mood but it was embarrassing ina room full of people

The museum is not arranged well, so while there are a lot of very interesting artifacts (with English info) you need to work to find it. One of the main floors has a jumble of artifacts with some long winded English history but there is not easy overall themes and groupings. There is also some private collections of nice Art but it should be curated better to provide history and context. One consistent problem was that many of the information cards were set so low that you had to squat to read them. The contrast of the text/background and the poor lighting also contributed to difficulties in reading the information.
