What is here is good and really well presented with lots of opportunities for interactivity and pictures, but there just isn't enough and could do with another floor that isn't reserved just for limited exhibits (that cost more to view).

A must visit!
Mar 2020 • Couples
Very interesting place, we didn't find too many people around when we visited in the morning. We spent almost two hours here. There was history of film making in Germany and the world.
The museum is very practical and fun to visit.
My must visit list in Frankfurt.

Great museum to explore the history of the film industry. A wide range of interesting exhibits there. Many interactive corners for you to play and have fun there too. Definitely recommended, especially for kids and young at heart adults!

Broad range, very interactive

I took a class of 11 year olds here and they had a great time. There seems to be something for everyone and lots of the exhibits are quite interactive and hands on. And it's not just about film, there is quite a lot about the science of perception and the science behind making movies.

Review of the German Film Museum in Frankfurt
Nov 2019 • Friends
The Museum is on the banks of the River Main and situated in the Museum Quarter of Frankfurt in walking distance of the City Centre. It has a permanent exhibition of old and new film technology , ever changing exhibitions such as Klaus Kinski , English cinema....there is also an arts cinema showing films from all cultures.and often shows the night long Oscar’s ceremony. We saw ‘ The Green Book ‘ there at the end of last year. An interesting daytime activity and an excellent opportunity to see films which are not always available in VO at cinema concentrating on blockbusters.

Well worth the visit

From Early viewers(peep shows) to multi level 3D viewers they have it all. An excellent display of the progression of movie development. Excellent examples of the devices and machines on display. Several hands on exhibits kid friendly. Fascinating devices I never knew existed.
Another level is movie props and memorabilia from more recent movies like the Fifth Element and Alien.

Interesting Afternoon
Oct 2019
First, it's easy to find and along the river, within 15 minutes of the Romer area. I would budget two hours, and at the conclusion....stop by the coffee shop there (great coffee and cake). Two floors of displays, and covers the whole past one-hundred years....not so much just Germany but includes Europe and the US as well.
