Stunning building has been finished in 1880, Frankfurt's opera house celebrated German high culture and the newly crated nation. Mozart and Goethe flank the entrance, reminders that this is a house of both music and theater. On a hot day, people of all ages cool their heels in the refreshing fountain in the plaza out front. But unfortunately, the original opera house was gutted in World War II and rebuilt in the original style only in 1981.

Getting there: U-Bath - Alte Oper metro station. There are currently no group tours due to Covid, but in the future it is worth going inside. But now we just have to look and admire the building from the side.

I have travelled extensively around Europe and seen many Opera Houses and from it's exterior. this one ranks right up there with the best of them. Set in a large square with a beautiful fountain to it's front, it has steps leading up to it's doors. It has elegant black lamp posts to it's front with wonderful figurines all over the building and a flying horse at the top. Halfway up there is a balcony with lovely pillars and arches too. Not to be missed.

The building, which has thankfully been rebuilt, is impressive even from the outside and will probably fascinate every observer. It is worth learning about the history of the building. Even more worthwhile is a concert in the large hall, which can accommodate almost 2,500 visitors. The "Verdi Requiem" conducted by Thomas Guggeis was an event that will be remembered for a long time thanks to the wonderful ensemble (May 27, 2024).

As a frequent traveler throughout Europe, I've had the opportunity to visit many beautiful opera houses. However, this one stands out among the best. With its stunning exterior, set in a large square with a beautiful fountain, it is truly a sight to behold. The building is adorned with elegant black lamp posts and intricate figurines, culminating in a stunning flying horse at the very top. Additionally, the balcony with lovely pillars and arches halfway up adds to the overall grandeur of the structure. If you're in the area, this is definitely a sight that should not be missed.

The old opera house is an impressive building and the outer of the building was very attractive. I went there outside have a look however I cannot comment for the inside as due to COVID-19 entrance was controlled or restricted. In a next trip..

I went to see Elisabeth.
It was a precedent, but the whole stage was difficult to see in the seats on the edge, but it was very good.
There were very few Asians, so it felt away, and while everyone was dressed, I stood out as a casual wearer.
The stage was so good that I didn’t even have to worry about that at all, and the atmosphere of the theater was good.
It was good to go to Frankfurt.

The old Opera House was basically destroyed during the war, but has risen Phoenix like with a superb warm and great sounding interior. Very close to our hotel, a free evening for us in the City coincided with an excellent concert by the Frankfurt Radio Orchestra, which was an unexpected musical treat for us. The quality of the orchestra and soloist could not be faulted and we would certainly visit again.

The Alter Oper is a must see attraction to watch one of their events. The building in itself has most of the interior built as a modern multipurpose complex with concert halls and a congress center.
