Our family enjoyed a wonderful mid-morning walking tour on a particularly cold day before Christmas. Jo was a wonderful guide who led us on an informative tour of the city's highlights and dealt perfectly and very patiently with a particularly jet-lagged family of four from...More

On a cold morning between Christmas and New Year's, we took the walking tour with a small group led by Dave. He always found a way to keep the group engaged, mixing in a solid amount of jokes and personal stories without compromising the main...More

Dave gave 5 women an awesome tour just over 4 hours. Nice pace of walking for all. Great history info with some humor. Time flew by and we learned a lot. I would highly recommend (and give a $ tip at the end). The owners...More

We did a 4 hour walking tour (14E per person), led by Greg, through the Alt Stadt of Frankfurt. Really interesting to cover the history and highlights of the area in a friendly and witty style. As we are here during the Chrismas markets, there...More

I usually don't do paid walking tours since I feel that free walking tour guides are more motivated to get good tips but I have to say that this tour was exceptionally good. It was about 4 hours and I learned so much about Frankfurt...More

Beautiful historic city. I was particularly impressed with the walking path along the river. The colors are spectacular. Be careful of bicycles zooming right next to you.

Considering a first visit to York in 2017 (13 Replies)
I am in my mid-50s, and I love to travel with my mother, who is in her mid-70s. Over the past couple of decades, we have been to many wonderful places in England (and once to Scotland and Wales), and while our trip last year to Cornwall was deemed to be our "final hurrah", the old familiar desire to return to England has us ruminating (scheming, more like) and we've been considering York. This is all very preliminary, but I was heartened today to find amazing airfare on a pretty decent flight...More

Day trip to Paris (6 Replies)
We'll be arriving at Gare du Nord next Saturday (18th) morning and plan to visit the Louvre first. What's the best way to get there? RER or on foot? Walking would enable us to see more of the city, but we don't want to use all of our time walking if it's a long way. We plan to visit the Eiffel Tower as well. Is it best to go up in the daylight or at night? And how long should we allow for the trip to the top and back down? I know it will depend how long we spend looking at the view, but an...More

Neither RER nor on foot. Take bus 38 which starts at Gare du Nord and get off at Chatelet. Walk to Louvre from there. Eiffel Tower quite a walk from Louvre, but worth the effort as you will be walking parallel to the Seine and seeing the Tuilleries and Place de la Concorde, continue along the Quai as far as the Petit Palais and cross the Seine by way of the Alexandre III Pont, with a view to the golden dome. Keep on walking along the Quai until you get to the Tower. By this time, it will...More
