Jo and Dave have a wealth of knowledge about Frankfurt— and do a great job of sharing it on their tours. After my family and I first did a private tour with their company 2 years ago, we have returned 3-4 times for tours to introduce family and friends to Frankfurt. We’ve also done tours with them in nearby towns as we explore the area. Each time, they are great about tailoring the experience to the group’s needs and the time of day/year of the tour. And I learn new things every time. These are guides who continually strive to learn new things about the city. Their website and Facebook page are also a great source of information on events, holidays, and happenings in and around Frankfurt. I’m grateful for all the things we’ve learned from them about our adopted city!

Frankfurt on Foot is a husband-wife team originally from the US who provide a variety of walking tours in Frankfurt and surrounding area. We are a family of three. We had two private tours both with Jo. She is kind and friendly and fun and interesting to be with, very knowledgeable. One of the tours was a replica of their standard daily tour and the other was an excursion to Seligenstadt, a nearby town with numerous examples of the half-timber architecture style. Planning was done by email well in advance and this was great. Highly highly recommend.

I recently had an international business trip that was going to require a layover in either london, amsterdam or frankfurt. After happening upon all of the great TripAdvisor reviews of the Frankfurt on Foot Walking Tour, I decided I'd schedule the 10-hour layover in Frankfurt and take the opportunity to spend 4-5 hours in a city I'm not sure my husband and I would otherwise have a chance to visit. I'm SO glad we did. Although I'm a seasoned traveller, I'm don't think we would have thought to leave the airport in the middle of international travel, but FOF made it very easy - providing us with detailed info about everything from currency exchange, expected weather conditions and train tickets to storage lockers at the airport. Just as promised, Hondo was waiting for us at the airport at the agreed-upon Meeting Point (we were late getting there and were very relieved to see/learn that he's very accustomed to waiting however long it takes for travelers to find their way to meet him). We then hopped the train into the city and proceeded to have a thoroughly pleasant afternoon/evening with just the right amount of information, historical perspective, and exercise - all of which was a particularly welcome/refreshing experience in between middle of two 8-12 hour flights! We really enjoyed the easy company and customized guidance that Hondo provided, and loved getting what seemed like an authentic taste of Frankfurt, its food, and its history. Would highly recommend this walking tour to anyone - it's well worth the relatively low price for peace of mind and a great customized experience!!

Earlier this week I had a lengthy 15 hour layover in Frankfurt which I decided to fill with the walking tour in the morning, to be followed by lunch and visits to some points of interest. On a previous layover there I more or less wandered aimlessly through the city.

My group was pleasant and comprised of people from several nationalities. Our guide Hondo was personable and his own enthusiasm and enjoyment were evident.

I thought that the tour was supposed to last 2 -1/2 to 3 hours but I imagine ours lasted more than four hours. Hondo took us to many places that were off the "beaten path"; his knowledge of facts and events was impressive, especially regarding the Jewish history and heritage of Frankfurt.

One of the places the tour takes you to has bathroom facilities that are clean, modern and FREE!

I'd like to add here that I was in touch with Frankfurt on Foot via email a few months before I arrived. Jo was very helpful and informative with information about the airport, the transportation options into the city, etc., which gave me lots of confidence about arriving to the meeting point from the airport.

I would recommend this tour to anyone considering it.

Well worth the time and money. Jo is knowledgeable and friendly and makes it fun to walk around learning about Frankfurt. Better than any guidebook without question.

Must note that Jo went over and above giving just the tour in showing us a great place to eat and providing suggestions on what else to do after the tour then taking the time to send us an email that night with a train trip on the Rhine and meeting us the next day at the station to get us on our way.

I had a 10 hour layover in Frankfurt by myself. Dave met me at the airport, helped me store my luggage, hopped on the train and in no time I was being shown all the interesting sites in Frankfurt. Dave's easy going manner made the day fly by. I would definitely recommend his tour. He even made sure I got to the right terminal at the airport before he left. Thanks for a great day. Julie. We had a 7-hour layover at Frankfurt and decided it will be nice to have a layover tour. We just stepped out of a 13-hour flight and we were a little tired. But our guide, Jo, was very flexible on her tour and considered what we preferred to see. My partner loves history and he wasn't disappointed. We also loved that we stopped in the market, had some sausages and hot chocolate. It felt like a catch-up with a friend which made it really comfortable. There are so many things to discover and so many histories written in this city. Jo, our guide, just made us want to visit Frankfurt again for a longer period. I will definitely recommend this.

We really enjoyed our tour with Jo!

She was such a joy to be around and she really knows everything there is to know about Frankfurt! She took us around the city for about 3 hours and if we hadn't been so tired from our long flight from the USA we could easily have spent another whole day touring with her!
Thank you Jo!

We took the "3 hour" tour with Hondo and about 6 others in October 2010. This tour is ridiculously good value for what Hondo put into it. He was a great host- very knowledgeable about Frankfurt and the surrounds.
DO NOT miss this tour whilst in Frankfurt- Our highest recommendation!!

We had a wonderful tour of downtown Frankfurt with our guide (I believe his name was Greg). It was about 4 hours and showed a lot of the sights and history of the City. We learned about the pre-German, Roman and Frank, history of the city along with the German, Jewish and European history associated with it. We also visited Frankfurt Cathedral (not technically a Cathedral as Greg explained) which was beautiful and full of history. We had a great time and highly recommend it.
