Very nice place, either to just walk, or have a meal, or go for the sunset pictures. Also very nice at night!

This is a long pier with eateries and plenty of opportunities to see the harbor. It was quite cold in December so dress warm. The lights were beautiful at night.

If you want to see the core of what made this city so important - its harbor, shipping, etc., - a stroll along the harbor and a ferry ride can provide a good viewpoint, even on a misty, rainy day. Natives also treat these as public transit so you can embark in Hamburg and then disembark in, say, Altona or... More

If you have a travel card you can go on the ferry for free. Gives you a taste of the harbour and you see some good sites. If you have the money and the time take one of the harbour tours, there are quite a few to chose from. While you are in the area take a look at the... More

I guess it's the main area of the city, the one where you can find stores, restaurants, bars, and of course, a beautiful view of the city. Seems to be one of the meeting points of the locals. A bit cold and cloudy, be ready for some rain, eventually.

It is good to travel around the bay. It is extremely cold in winter but don't miss the chance to travel up front where the winds hits you right in the face.

Very large harbor. A lot is going on. Cruise ships leaving, or all the containers being moved. However, during the weekends, not that much is happening with the containers.

From these floating docks, most sightseeing boats in the port area and into the canal city. It is full of tourists and quite messy ... but you also have here a good view of the harbor and all the boats traffic the river Elbe.
