This historic architectural monument dates back to the early 17th century and is the only remaining, most idyllic piece of old Hamburg. It's in close proximity to the St. Michel's church. The row of courtyard houses was built around 1620 by the shopkeepers' guild to...More

I don't normally write reviews, but I felt I needed to warn others that when visiting. It is of course beautiful to see the old places of Hamburg. But after my tour, I decided to buy some Gluwein. A cup is 2€. Being a 34...More

This street is amazing, it gives a visitor a glimpse of life in the past. A must is a visit to the one house that is open to the public. The street, while quaint, would have been very hot in the summer and probably very...More

We almost missed it, even though we had plotted out our route to visit it on the way to St Michael's Kirche nearby. You have to enter a doorway from the street into this hidden close of small, old homes. It's a "walk by" visit,...More

To see what Hamburg would have looked like in the middle ages or before the ravages of the Second World War Bombing raids. Now it is a series of shops to shop for souvenirs. Really ancient cobble stones streets and pathways. Some traditional restaurants and...More

Take a step back in time with this little street right at the rear of St Michaels church. You can sit down for a bite, buy some trinkets or just observe the architecture of a few centuries ago. Should take all of 10 minutes.

We visited here during a city tour, and would probably have missed it without our guide. This narrow old alley near the rear of St Michael's Church has a board quoting dates from as far back as 1620. The original buildings are now home to...More

Close to St. Michaelis Church, the curious can gain an insight into Hamburg life during the mid 19th century at the restored Grocers’ Institute houses, one of which has been preserved in its original condition with period furnishings. The buildings started life as housing for...More

History of the city. Hundred years you go back, when you walk on this little street. You can visit the small homes too. A feeling of the old days.

Area is pretty small but very interesting, the museum itself is just one of the buildings, small fully furnished flat with a great view of the whole street from the windows upstairs. We were on our way to St.Michaelis church, but had to wait before...More

Really not much to see, a couple of places to eat at quite high prices. Everywhere seemed to be closed on Sunday which was strange.
