Plenty of history here just wish the plaques had also been in English. Lots of bridges to cross. We found am amazing coffee museum in one of the warehouses, a really great place where they grind their own coffee & serve nice quiches & cakes too. Highly recommend a visit, we returned for a second visit but unfortunately they are... More

There wasn't much to do around here but the architecture made it worth the visit. I recommend checking out the maritime museum after strolling through the district.

The brown warehouses stand on timber pile foundations in the port of Hamburg. Enchanting, historical, charming old wooden warehouses. Some still serve as warehouses for carpets, maritime equipment, electronics, goods like cocoa, coffee, tea, spices. Some serve as museums like The Mniatur Wonderland, Hamburg Dungeon.

Authentically restored, architecturally stunning, large scale historic districts are not easy to come by and this is the most extraordinary I have ever seen. We just wandered, slack jawed and overwhelmed by the beauty, scale of the waterfront industrial sites.

This famed area that is in many spy films (Bourne included) is a photographers paradise when the sun goes down. And it's safe enough too (just watch for when the late dog walkers disappear, then perhaps you pack up too).

We were in Hamburg with cold and wet weather, but buildings and the warehouse district were fabuleus! In spring or Summer we will go again for sure!

When you walk through Hamburg, you will notice the central part of the city is full of canals. It reminds me of the larger, more industrial version of Amsterdam. The Warehouse District is beautiful and worth a stop as you're walking through Central Hamburg.
