We took the horse drawn wagon out to the island. I hope to go again and want to walk out. It's unbelievable that all that area will be underwater in a few hours. Watching the tide roll in is fascinating. The island is very peaceful, a great place to walk around. The boat back to the mainland is packed however so try to get on early so you can get a good seat. Germans don't like to stand in lines so it's not a very orderly boarding situation.

This one is not so much downtown, although it's still easy to get to. If you wanna be away from the crowd for a while, it may be an interesting option.

from top of the lighthouse view covers some 45mi across the Wattenmeer (sea of sand). Being ubicated 7mi of the Cuxhaven shoreline this 500 year old Landmark sits in the Center of Neuwerk a tiny Island being politically part of the community of inner Hamburg.
