The tall tower is a Hamburg landmark and can be seen from many parts of the city. Other than that it is just a normal telecommunication tower with radio masts and dish antennas attached to its upper levels.

This tower occupies the Hamburg skyline and I have to say is very similar to the towers of Berlin and Düsseldorf. We took a walk here on a foot tour of Hamburg but we did not venture to the top of even try. The views though would be immense (I do not do heights well).

Totally pointless and utterly disappointing. We were confused and perplexed by some of the reviews. Some people describe the tower as excellent with brilliant views, but others said it was closed. So, we decided to gamble. Much to our dejection, the Fernsehturm is closed to the public. It makes the purpose of this excellent structure completely redundant as we were hoping for something similar to the Berlin TV tower. Don’t go. It only makes for a good photograph and nothing more.

You will see it from pretty much everywhere while in Hamburg. It had a 360 turning restaurant in the past which served good food. It is now an integral part of Hamburg's skyline

This was my third visit here over the last couple of years (always try to go when in Hamburg). The service is friendly and the atmosphere is great. It is busy and noisy so if you're after a quiet dinner then probably not for you. However, if after good beer, great meat dishes and a fun environment then it probably is for you.
