- FoodangeManchester, United Kingdom2,622 contributionsUse the Ferries for a great TripThe port is the heart of Hamburg with so much to see and do. If you’re tempted onto the water don’t pay for a cruise round the harbour when you can do much of the same by taking one or two ferries for far less. The star trip was on #73.This was great and went in amongst narrow waterways, past old buildings that would have hummed in the port’s heyday. #62 was pretty good too.Visited October 2021Written December 28, 2021
- Yann RenaudSwitzerland761 contributionsMy favourite place in Hamburg! This is definitely my favourite place in Hamburg. Waling along the Elbe you'll get a great view of the impressive harbour. However, I would definitely recommend taking a boat (not a tour, a simple boat, like the 62 or 72) and enjoy the view from the Elbe directly. A must in my eyes!Visited August 2022Written August 30, 2022
- Lars LSkive, Denmark3 contributionsLovely sightseeingI really enjoyed the tour with the sailing Company we choksejr by coinsidence. We West to the harbour with the mighty Big containerships, had a beer on the deck, and heard a lot of funny stormes from the german tour guide. If You dont understand german, the trip is still perfect.Visited July 2022Written July 25, 2022
- kakhaber1910Tbilisi, Georgia54 contributionsIndustrial magicI visited Port of Hamburg on a bus tour and reality was beyond expectations. Never thought industrial sightseeings would be so astonishing. Tour is perfect for rainy days, as there is limited walking options, while Port of Hamburg in a rainy, misty day is something magical and mystical, at the same time. Totally recommended!Visited March 2020Traveled with friendsWritten March 4, 2020
- GeorgeOhio2 contributionsBest tour in the Port seaMy boyfriend and I decided to go with a small boat tour with Kapitän Prüsse (I don't know if they offer English language tours as we did it in German). It was a small boat with at most 50 people on board and we went all around the harbor area as well as out to where the cargo ships (un)load all of their stuff. It's really fascinating to see these enormous ships just doing their thing, especially from the point of view of a tiny little boat. I wouldn't say it's exactly "beautiful," considering it's very industrial, but it certainly is part of the history and economy of the area and thus super interesting. If you go on a boat tour, make sure to not sit where there's glass because then pictures are harder to take. However, be prepared on a smaller boat to get a little wet if the waves are bigVisited July 2020Written March 4, 2021

Then there are the local ferries which are a great way to get around and very cheap too. Near Landsbrucken there are loads of restaurants and bars to drink and eat on the water front, although very busy with footfallVisited March 2022Written March 19, 2022

Interesting to see the heart of Hamburg - the Elbe. Easy to get to on the train and plenary of places to have a coffee and a bite to eat. Would highly recommend this breath of fresh air away from the busy city.Visited March 2020Traveled with friendsWritten March 3, 2020
- Celestine SEUDI5 contributionsVery nice and authentic walkStarting at Metro Station Überseequartier, it is a wonderful walk down the canals, along the buildings, while overlooking the ships, to Elbphilarmonie and the Elbpromenade. I suggest you take time to stroll, have a drink or a "brötchen" on the way, to experience "local life". Children loved it too, plenty of strange things for them to look at on the water !Visited July 2021Written July 20, 2021

You could take a ferry to helgoland or other outer islands. you could sit at a cafe and watch the passersby. You could have a romantic dinner with your other half. Or even take a show at the Elbephilharmonic! This is such a wonderful place.Visited April 2022Written April 29, 2022

Lovely place to come for a walk and see the views of Hamburg. Was here just around sunset which was really nice and my friends and I went to the local German restaurant there was amazing. Lots to do during the day here, while worth coming to.

we didnt had to mutch expectations before leaving to Hamburg, but they suprised us in a positive way. A lot of playground around the port and just that stunning view of the New boulevard. Amazing. And everywhere nice bars and restaurants.

A must see, especially if you are lucky with the weather. Very nice architecture and try one of the numerous (short) boat tours. A stroll in the historical port streets are nice and try to count all the bridges you cross (will be a lot). And of course go up the viewing platform of the Elbphilarmonie and bring you kids to the Miniature world. Worth the visit.

Viel Spass.

They do have. There are yellow and red boys representing different companies. Just google Hamburg free walking tours and then you'll find them. Depending where you are you can either go to Landungsbrücke or to the Rathaus. Check 11/ 13/14 o'clock free walking tour guides. 😊

Suerte y buen viaje.
