Church is at terminus (east end) of Brandenburger Strasse (main tourist street) which starts at Brandenburger Tor (west end). Nice church, not fanciful. There's old cemetery behind it.

The main street in Potsdam, the Brandenburger Strasse runs across the centre of the town with the Brandenburg Gate at one end and the St Peter and St Paul Church at the opposite end. Taking the bus into town from the rail station, the church is the first large building you reach, and being open, we enjoyed the architecture and decor of this large building. There are some very good sculptures and interesting artefacts. We particularly liked the confessional painting, a subject we had not seen in an artwork before.

It was great to see this Church was open for worship. Off the busy shopping street it is quiet and understatedly beautiful.

The Catholic Church of St. Peter and Paul was built from 1867 to 1870 and restored in 1956. Its floor has the shape of a Greek cross and its 64 m. Italian bell tower is modelled after the Campanile of San Zeno in Verona, Italy. Below the tower, the statues of the apostles Peter and Paul with Virgin Mary and baby Christ in the middle.
The altar was modelled after Haghia Sofia of Constantinople. During WWII bombings, the windows and the roof of the church were damaged and they were restored after the war. The three paintings are work of famous court painter Antoine Pesne, an important Baroque and Rococo artist. Finally the organ was built by the company Alexander Schuke and has 41 registers.

My first view of the church was turning into Brandenburg Strasse. The late afternoon sun illuminated the front of the church making it glow. Inside the the decor reminded me of orthodox Byzantine churches. It had a warm welcoming feel and was worth calling in.

The first thing you will notice with this church is the large red brick tower with a clock and figurines. It's located less than two blocks from the Dutch quarter. The interior has a very large seating area with side rooms and a large, open altar area. Photos are allowed, but without the flash. There are several other attractions in the area, so the St. Peter and Paul church can easily be combined with these attractions.

This church is located at the other end of the Branderburg Gate. The architecture is nice but there is nothing special about this church. Just a quick visit if time permits.

This is a relatively non descript church when compared to most of the incredibly beautiful palaces and cathedrals of Potsdam. It does however have a noteworthy location at the terminus of Brandenbergerstrasse. It can be seen from anywhere along this street starting at the Brandenberg gate and is somewhat notable as the backdrop for the "old town" Christmas market located the length of Brandenbergerstrasse.

This church is not like most of the other churches about. It is beautiful in an understated way. With cream and blues walls. Worth a visit. At the back is the Russian War Memorial and Cemetery.

It was built in 1738 year. It is visible through the entire central street starting from the Brandenburg Gate. On the other side there is a small cemetery dedicated to a Soviet soldiers died in the last days of the war.
