Excellent day spent cycling round Potsdam. We downloaded the audio tour from the map given and it took us to fantastic sights with key information along the way. Fairly flat roads but did feel like we'd had a days exercise too. Highly recommended.

Be sure to exit Potsdam station on the correct exit, not the one where the bus and trans are. I had a 30 minute wait as there was only one employee at the desk. He was helpful and the bike was fine. Be prepared to wait.

Potsdam is a cycling-friendly town. Even if your experience with bikes is moderate, you will see that cycling around Potsdam is safe and easy. This bike rentals has a convenient location: at the Main train station take the exit Babelsberger Straße and it will be on the lift-hand side. The price for the bike/per day 11 €. If you have “Berlin welcome card” - 8 €. It’s also cheaper (8€) if to rent it after 2pm. I would recommend to book it in advance or to come early, especially if you are coming as a group. Map of the cycling route will be provided. …

Thank you for your review! We also run a paddling station at Potsdam Griebnitzsee-Station. When you come next time it's worth to see Potsdam also from the waterfront.

But pay attention to the size of the bike and the comfort of the saddle otherwise the end of your day will bring good memories for your bottom. The long tour is worth the effort but download the Postdam audio guide on your iPhone (only) before the ride for enjoying additional information during the ride. …

When visiting Berlin, there can be few better ways to spend a sunny day than cycling around Potsdam. It is an exceptionally beautiful place and a favourite leisure retreat for locals. When you read about it, it sounds like it is all about baroque palaces and ther are lots if you are into that stuff. But as far as I am concerned, by far the main appeal is just cruising along on miles of good bike paths through absolutely lovely surroundings of parks and waterways. Ther are hundreds of appealing cafes and restaurants along the way to stop at, most in outdoor settings. You can join an organised tour from Berlin if you want but I think it is better just to hire a bike when you arrive at Potsdam station. Get an audio guide as well if you want info on the palaces but you don,t need one much. You get a little map from the bike hire place but it would be good to get a better one if you can because it can be slightly tricky to stay on the right path in a couple of places. Don't worry about the distance. We are both over 60 and not regular cyclists and we got around pretty easily. No need to hurry. The advantage of not being in a tour –apart from being much cheaper - is that you can go which way you like and stop where and when you like. And there are so many appealing places to stop. On the other hand you do not have to go into any places ,that don't interest you, which you may have paid for on a tour. See one pompous over-formal baroque palace, no need to see more, is my view. Apart from the great outdoors, the one thing you should not miss is the famous "Bridge of Spies".…
