This is very odd building. It is a Chinese looking house with lots of golden features. It was built from 1755 - 1764 in a mixture of ornamental rococo elements and parts of Chinese architecture.
When we visited the house was closed and even on the official website it says it's closed until further notice.

Definitely unique - an odd combination of baroque/rococo and imagined chinese from the period when the European elite were fixated on Asia. It's off the main path so make sure you've got your bearings before you start looking for it. But definitely worth a visit. It's part of the overall ticket for Sanssouci Park.

You can visit if you have a full access ticket, and it’s worth it if you do, but might be a little disappointing if you bought a specific ticket.

Sanssouci park is a must see. The Chinese house was beautiful. A scenic walk for a nice day in Potsdam.

The greater park is a vast expanse to explore. I call it a vast expanse as I had to cycle really far from one point to another and I'm still considered within Sanssouci Park. Plenty of sites within the park itself, including this one which is the Chinese Tea House. I chuckled at this as this doesn't resemble anything of Chinese architecture. Rather, it's the reimagination of Chinese culture by the court at the time who was fascinated by Chinese goods that was brought in by Dutch traders such as pearls, silk and porcelain. Plenty of details were off.

When we visited Chinese House, I wondered why the figures/statues looked European in their facial, bodily, and behavioral features. The man who worked there told us that back then Germans’ understanding of Chinese was based on what they saw on Chinese porcelain. Also, go to the very center of the house and speak to yourself. You’ll hear your own voice magnified.

This house looks like a pretty, enclosed gazebo made in an Asian style. And from porcelain. It’s difficult to say that it is made in the Japanese stile. It's the feeling that the creators gathered in one project the ideas most clear to them from different countries and nationalities of Asia, and simply called it the Japanese tea house. Inside, it consists of a central room and separate semicircular small rooms with tables, at which, apparently, they were drinking tea. It looks nice, but I’m not advising you to go here just to see it. Only if this place is on your way.

We stumbled across this whilst walking along the 2 mile length of the mall towards Sansoucci Palace. A lovely looking building with unbelievable amount of gold - bit of a shame it is boarded up

The Chinese House is part of the Sanssouci Palace garden and it looks really beautiful. You can also check it out from inside by paying a minimal entrance fee. Its interesting how the Prussian Czar's were fascinated by China.
