We were two couples who had lunch here prior to our timed visit to the palace. We ate in a nice garden room with a water feature. The menu was slightly limited as we wanted something light to eat. Our first waitress got somewhat impatient with one of our party who was being a little difficult, however, she did not... More

We had purchased a day-pass at Sanssouci and were warned that we would need to arrange a time for a guided tour of the rooms that are accessible. We were added to a tour in German but were provided with English information sheets. After the delightful modest scale and delicate rococo decorations of sanssouci palace this is monumental, extravagant and... More

Designed in Italian Renaissance style this smaller palace was built to house guests for Tsar Nicolas and his wife. Lovely to see. Check out the observations terrace which offers a good view of Potsdam. Smaller than most palaces I've seen, but nice enough

Just a short distance from the Sanssouci Palace is its orangery, the Orangerie im Park Sanssouci. This building has a slightly different architecture from the rest as it was built much later.Since this is after all and orangery, there are plenty of plants grown in the midst of its spectacular building.

The Orangerie is part of the Sanssouci complex and you can visit it with the one day pass, but we found that we didn't have time. It's half way between Sanssouci Palace and Neues Palace and currently under scaffolding, so perhaps not a good time to go and see it.

The tour of the Orangerie in Sanssouci Park is a short one, but the highlight is the Raphael Gallery, which presents 50 to-scale copies of the famous renaissance artist's work. One of the early reproductions is the Sistine Madonna, complete with its two well-known cherubs. Also fun, the visitors were asked to wear large, soft slippers over our shoes to... More

After wondering through the park from the Sanssouci Palace we came upon The Orangerie. They stated you have to take a guided tour so we had to wait a little while. The tour started by putting these big slippers over our shoes so as not to scratch the marble floors. They gave us a card with an English explanation of... More

This was very interesting. We were in a small group of 8 with 4 speaking English and 4 speaking German. The tour guide would answer our questions in English, but conducted the tour in German. When we got our timed ticket, the cashier said it was up to the guide. We still enjoyed the Orangerie and it shouldn't be missed.... More

On our way to Sanssouci park from Neues Palais, we dropped by Orangerie. It is such a quiet place where we did not see a lot of tourists there. We did not enter into the palace but it is good to take a photo outside. Overall atmosphere is calm and I love this place.
