In the jungle
Aug 2020 • Couples
Not to overexagerate, but this was Literally the greatest experience of my life.
I visited with my partner Hanna yesterday and it was I N C R E D I B L E.
Loads of interesting information on bionics, tropical environments, as well as real life animals. And I'm not talking a few basic ants & caterpillars that I could just see in the park for free. They got fish, they got Schmetterlinges, they got monkeys, they got reptiles. I'm talking Iguanas, chameleons, geckos. And if that's not enough for you, Hell, I'm pretty sure I even saw a Hippo.
So yeh, basically an amazing day out. Definitely a place where you could spend the whole day. I missed my flight so I could come back again today

Dear Kieran We are so happy to read your wonderful review. Unfortunately we have no hippos in our jungle but maybe you'll be able to spot our free flying birds on your next visit. We're looking forward to welcome you again!

Beautiful but rather small and even more overpriced
Jul 2020
The Biospähre is not a bad place if you like tropical gardens, however it’s smaller then you’d think and ridisciously overpriced. It consists only of one path you have to walk (from entrance to giftshop) and except for the restaurant there is about no place to rest and enjoy the garden. So if it’s just for a tropical garden I recommend visiting Berlin’s Botanical garden or “Gärten der Welt” or even spending a day swimming at Tropical Islands water park.

The exhibition and displays are aimed at (younger) kids, so if you have seen everything else in Potsdam (I'm sure you haven't) or the weather ist nasty and you have to entertain the family this might be an option. If not consider this a tourist trap at a rather steep price tag.

Given their annoying Covid-precautions (having to wear a face mask while walking alone through nature and taking forever to get in as the only customer around) I was seriously thinking about giving just one point.

Dear Daniel Thank you for your review. It's a shame that your visit to the Biosphäre Potsdam did not meet your expectations. With our permanent exhibition and changing special exhibitions, we are constantly trying to make the tropical garden a new experience and to raise awareness of the protection of the tropical rainforests. In the Biosphäre, just like in real rainforests, many things cannot be discovered at first glance - it is therefore worth taking a closer look to experience our wild animals and the fascinating flora. The hygiene regulations in our house apply to the protection of all employees and visitors.

A great day out!
Jan 2020
My husband and I super love all things nature related so I was really interested when I came across the reviews for the Biosphere on TripAdvisor and we thought it was worth a little train journey to Potsdam. It was a really grim and rainy day so the perfect weather to be doing something inside, and we had a thoroughly enjoyable time.

You wander round the Biosphere, encountering informative interactive displays, different animals and an aquarium section- it's well laid out and definitely enough to keep you occupied for a few hours. Our favourites were the little tamarin monkeys, super cute and engaging!

We also stopped for some lunch at the end of the trail in the restaurant and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, normally it's a bit pants in these kind of attraction restaurants, but my husband's flammkuchen and my currywurst were really tasty and resonably priced.

Atmospheric jungle day in Potsdam.

A wonderful day out in Potsdam Biosphere, this is an excellent experience of what our rainforest jungles provide to the world. Within the building you will be educated in how we need to preserve the biodiversity of our world or we will not be here much longer. This exhibition also has many interesting reptiles, insects and butterflys to view. Truly worth a visit with the bonus of exploring outside the city of Berlin.

Honestly I’m not that big fan of locked animals, even with lizards etc. But Biosphare Potsdam is truly amazing and really pretty! It has a lot of things to do and and was the highlight of my trip in Potsdam.

It's all about "the Tropics"
Oct 2018
Nice big hall with free flying birds and an area with butterflies. Small exhibition at the start explains importance of this type of ecosytem (Tropics). Get kids to grab a copy with questions. They get a little sweet at the exit if Qs ar answered correctly.

Impressive

The Biosphere is an amazing place to visit if you are into rainforests, animals and nature. The warm hall, the birds and butterflies and the animated thunderstorms give you an amazing impression on wildlife in the tropical areas.
Plan at least 3h for your stay.

What a surprise
From Autumm to summer in no time at all. The Biosphere is definately worth a visit. The rainforest and natural exhibits are great. As adults we enjoyed it and kids would have a wonderful time here. We went in September so there were no crowds to battle through so could enjoy at own leisure. The staff seem to enjoy what they are doing and spent time talking with you about the butterflies and insects. There are interactive displays and the "air balloon" is a must.

A Rainy Day
Jul 2017 • Family
We had a rainy day keeping us from Berlin Mitte but saving us from twiddling our thumbs. While one of the children was a reluctant participant at first he ended up really enjoying the exhibits. Great layout and a variety of exhibits which kept everything interesting. The cafe was excellent and provided a perfect break along the tour.
