Wonderful little section of town. Loads of great little restaurants, a really good ice cream shop and some really good pubs. Head down here to take a walk around before everyone opens to enjoy the artwork, sculptures and window displays.

I visited here when my mom took me walking around Bremen. Many shops and different cafes to go to and just a lovely atmosphere. One of my favorites is the paper model store filled with models for all ages and experienced people. Great for a leisurely stroll during the day and I advise taking your time and look in some shops that you think are interesting also breath in the historic part of it, surviving World War Two it is a thing the world would definitely miss without.

Loved exploring the little streets in this quarter. Lots of arty shops, you'll always find something interesting to look at.

I believe when every cafe/restaurants/bars/shops are allowed to open again, it will be very nice to wander around these streets.

Schnoor is very small, it really only consists of a couple of narrow streets in the old part of town. It is now mainly a tourist attraction with shops, cafes etc geared to tourists. Still it is worthwhile to stroll through this charming quarter when in Bremen.

It is Bremen's oldest quarter where river fishermen and boatmen used to live. Today, the Schnoor is an attraction for tourists and the car-free quarter. It's worth strolling through all the alleyways, because there a many well hidden shops. To be honest it was for me one of favourite places visitting this city. Either during the day or night.

Our family has lived in Bremens since 1902. Our family history of the last 4 generations in Bremen:

First, the grandfather Ottomar H. came 1902 to Bremen and bought a red brick house very near to the Buergerpark in Bremen. His daughter Hedwig B. was born 1909 and grew up in Bremen.

Our grandmother "Hedwig" ' son Carl W. has been born 1929 in NY City but grew up in Bremen. Carl W. is our old uncle "Carlchen".

Old grandmother Hedwig's daughter Heike B. was born in Bremen in 1948 and grew up in Bremen, too.

We all love the Schnoor Viertel, especially the restaurants and cafes.

The Schnoor Viertel in Bremen lies a bit hidden so from the Market place you should not get worried if you have to pass several tram lines, walk down a stair and walk around a church to get there but then it is really worth it. It is an old part of the town with old and small houses very narrow streets (most of them pedestrian only) a lot of souvenir shops and restaurants and a lot of nice view on the walls. If you go there the main tasks are not to get too distracted by the shops but find time to have a look at the walls and the buildings, you will find lot of surprises and of course not to loose your way in the narrow streets (some are below two fee in width). But take your time and enjoy. One shop I can recommend is a newly opened chocolate manufacture. Be aware you will meet lot of tourists and the shop owners and restaurant patrons know very well they can charge a lot.

Walking through the narrow streets of Schnoor is magical. Like many of the reviews here, you will see many colourful and slim houses that are picturesque. Be sure to also visit the many unique souvenir shops in this area. Items sold are handmade with environment friendly material which are perfect for gifts. You should be able to finish walking around this area within an hour or 2 max if you intend to spend some quality time at the nice cafes and restaurants.

Schnoor Viertel gives a lovely insight to how things were. Quaint, narrow, cobbled streets allow you to explore.

Schnoor is very small, only really a couple of streets with some alleyways joining them up, but it's a magical little area that is well worth the visit. The streets are narrow and have survived the wars, it's like you are stepping back in time and well worth visiting.

We explored here about 3 times during our stay, once during the day and twice at night. During the day it's a real artist area, lots of little galleries with quirky and cute displays inside the buildings and often outside as well. At night it's a place to eat and drink as well.

Highly recommended.
