Did some shopping there and with the Berlin city pass you can even get a bit of a discount. Prices were not so low but there's a wide variety of stuff that you can buy. Many of them were well-designed and looked very good as gifts for friends and families.

We had no idea about the Ampelmann before visiting Berlin but as we were staying on the old east side we noticed the strange crossing symbols straight away. They are really cool and different so when we saw the shop we were always going to go, there is a wide range of things to buy and even a cafe which does a great Chai Latte. Situated on Unter Den Linden go and visit this shop as Ampelmann is the man!

Brilliant shop, the Ampelmann has a great history, and they've then found ways to put him on pretty much EVERYTHING!
A great place to potter around and get souvenirs and presents from.
The shop also has a section of the Berlin Wall with an Ampelmann shape cut out, and then signed by David Hassellhof - as you do.

The traffic lights in Berin have very distinctive "green" and "red" figures on them to indicate go/stop. This chain of shops has grown up around these & sells a variety of merchandise with these figures as logos - T-shorts, mugs, pencil cases et etc

The beloved Ampelmännchen appear on every item, no matter how large or tiny, how silly or useful. It's great fun to take your time exploring the shop. At first I thought, "too kitschy, not for me," until I looked more carefully and found my only Berlin souvenirs (except for a team scarf at an Eisbären ice hockey game - not to be missed). This is one of several stores in various locations in Berlin. I've felt an affection for the little traffic-light men since I first visited East Berlin long ago; they seemed the only thing of cheer and charm in that then-dreadful place (the world-class antiquities and the opportunity to experience Soviet-style life were the main draws back then). You'll look at Berlin traffic lights with greater appreciation, perhaps affection, and with a sense of Berlin's spirit.

To know Ampelmann is to love Ampelmann. It's impossible to come to Berlin and not come across East Berlin's most beloved icon. Luckily they have several Ampelmann shops where you can get souvenirs. I bought some refrigerator magnets and still smile whenever I look at them.

My daughter wanted a souvenir from here. As I was looking around I asked the manager about the difference between the east and west Ampelmann. He then pointed out the Ampelmann signals from other countries- the cutest of which imo option was from Mongolia.

I expected to just stop in and buy a few items but didn't expect to see the interesting signals from other countries. Very nice short stop.

My friend and I noticed someone walking down the street with an ampelmann bag and were intrigued as to where he'd got it from. Then we spotted the shop. Many many things were bought.

It's not cheap, but there's loads of choice and you can get everything from lip balm to sweets to stationery to clothing. Perfect for a distinctively "Berlin" souvenir or gift.
