I had to tour the city with a guide, but, due to a complication, I rent a bike. Guys at the Alexander Platz shop are super kind and really nice. Bikes are perfect and confortable. One of the best experiences I had, and a must-to do in Berlin!

So glad we booked a tour with Fat Tire. A great way to see the city for myself and two teenage children. Berlin is FLAT. Bikes are a great way to get around and explore the sites and the park. Neil is great guide. Informative, easygoing and gave us some quality recommendations at the end.

My husband and I, sister in law and her husband enjoyed a beautiful day in Berlin, beyond what we had hoped for! The AM tour was fantastic, the bikes were high quality, and the pace and breadth of the tour was all we could have hoped for in a 5 hour experience. We saw the Brandenburg Gate, French Quarters, Hitler's... More

Fat tyre Bike Tours was without a doubt our favourite way to get around Berlin and see the attractions, the guide was knowledgable, entertaining and made it a really fun experience. We paid to do and see a lot of Tourist things while in Berlin but this was the one that stood out amongst the rest. Don't worry if your... More

My husband and I visited Berlin for a couple of days but didn't know where to go and what to see. We booked a tour with Fat Tire tour company and had the great pleasure of being led by Marc (with a C!). The tour covered many attractions and our guide was knowledgeable about all and not just facts that... More

Did two Fat Tire bike tours. The first was with Tom round Berlin - Tom was great fun and informative. Bikes were in great condition. We had regular stops where Tom explained the sites. Also stopped for lunch in a pub in the middle of a park. The second tour was a food cycling tour of Berlin (can't remember his... More

I did this trip last week with my 14 year old son and both had a fantastic time. We went on the general tour that took in all the main sights over about 5 hours. Its great value for money and the guide was superb. This would be suitable for all ages and abilities. Many thanks for a great fun... More

Riding bikes around former East and West Berlin was fascinating. Walid our guide provided such great insight about the history of this amazing city. Walid added humour and emotion to the tour and had planned the route carefully to ensure we were able to see so much of the place. The biking wasn't difficult so suitable for all abilities and... I rode the six hour Third Reich Tour. It should be more appropriately titled the Third Reich and holocaust tour. Our knowledgable guide was Randall from Brisbane. The bikes are comfortable three speed cruisers. The riding is flat, safe and easy. We had an hour long lunch break in a beer garden in the Tiergarten. We visited the Fuhrer bunker,... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
