Neptunbrunnen is a monumental fountain located in front of Berlin Town Hall. This neo-baroque-style fountain by German sculptor Reinhold Begas was completed in 1891.
The water pool is 18 meters wide and the statue of the Roman sea god Neptune reaches a height of ten meters, making Neptunbrunnen one of the largest fountain sculptures in the world.
The sculpture depicts Neptune on a huge mussel shell supported by four Tritons and surrounded by a number of water-spraying birds and sea animals. At the edges of the basin are four female figures symbolizing the four great rivers of the German Empire: the Rhine, the Oder, the Elbe, and the Weikel.

On a big square, in front of Red Hall. With the 4 ladies symbolizing the big 4 rivers of Prussia. Very beautiful, especially in the sunshine.

The Neptunbrunnen is named for the Roman god of the Oceans, Neptune. The god forms the centrepiece of the fountain sitting on a giant clam shell and depicted in all his might as he is escorted from the seas by creatures of the seas, both real and mythical. Around Neptune are sea creatures announcing the arrival of the god of the sea by spraying water from their mouths towards the centre of the fountain. Around the fountain are four female personifications of the four great rivers of the then Prussia, the Elbe, the Rhine, the Vistula, and the Oder.
The fountain is truly magnificent to behold and worth seeing as it’s within the main tourist circuit.

A beautiful Fountain in Berlin. The Roman god Neptune stands in the center with his trident in his hand and surrounded by four females.
The four women sitting beside Neptune represent the four main rivers of Prussia during the time the fountain was made:
1- Elbe: figure holding fruits and ears of corn
2- Rhine: Figure holding net fod fishermen and grapes
3- Vistula Figure holdingwooden blocks.
4- Oder Figure holding goats and animal skins.
Statues of marine animals statues add beauty to this foutain. Yiu can see lobsters, crabs, fish, water turtles, seals, crocodiles, snakes, and children playing in The water.

Fountain of Neptune (the God of water and the sea).
The four Goddesses around Neptune represent the four rivers of old Prussia : the Elbe, the Rhine, the Oder, and the Vistula (now in Poland). .
It was a masterpiece of Reinhold Begas (the sculptor of the statue of Friedrich Schiller at the Gendarmenmarkt )

The fountain is in the same Platz as the tv mast. It is always good to rest a while and contemplate life near water.

A very photogenic fountain, and is in a pleasant square, not far from the Berlin tower and Alezanderplatz.

This was the best of the Christmas markets we visited over a weekend. A decent size and not too cramped, a good variation of stalls, plenty of activities including skating and a ferris wheel. It was definitely the most festive feeling of the markets we visited including the highly rated Alexanderplatz, Potsdamer Platz and Gendarmenmarkt. Would thoroughly recommend.

Located close to St Mary's church it is easily viewed on the way to the church. The fountain was built at the end of the 19th century. The central figure is Neptune god of the sea. Surrounding Neptune are four women representing the four rivers of Prussia; the Elbe, Rhine, Vistula and Oder. The fountain has been moved a couple times. It is particularly impressive at night.

A nice fountain not very far from Alexander Plaza with the statue of Neptune the Roman god of the seas, and four female figures representing the 4 big rivers of Germany. Go there, take some photos and pop in to the beautiful St. Mary church in the back.
