Beautiful old place, well worth a couple of hours, big thanks to our translators!
Dec 2018 • Friends
I had read about this place and decided i wanted to visit while i was in Berlin recently.
So we headed up to Pankow and found it easily enough, and once we'd got in it was easy to tell that this place was a fairly special place just by the decorations in the entrance hallway.
Once we'd gone upstairs we were greeted by a member of staff who introduced us to the museum, whose name i didn't catch, so apologies to that gentleman!
So, using my shamefully below par German i explained that my German wasn't that good, and he didn't speak any English so a bit of a problem.
Luckily for us there was a young German couple that had come in at the same time and they, unselfishly offered to act as translators for us, which was a truly generous gesture, so thanks to that couple, again, whose names i didn't catch, we were able to get to know more about they Heyn family and and the house and it's features etc.
I hope the young couple will read this just to show how grateful we were for them taking the time to make sure we could enjoy the tour as well as them, they could have easily just not given up their time.
Thanks also to the museum guide and the couple, who was extremely patient while we asked questions etc, unfortunately we had to cut the tour short as we'd already made plans.
I would certainly recommend going here for a couple of hours, but possibly with someone who could translate if your German isn't very good!
I would like to go back and have another good look around as it was a very interesting place.

Great to visit on a Sunday
Mar 2016 • Couples
We live in Pankow, and had somehow never managed to visit this little museum. Once an apartment owned by the then-wealthy Heyn family, this flat has been preserved to show what life was like for the wealthy back then. Even when you just walk into the entrance area of the apartment building, you are greeted by beautifully encased murals of ships, castles, and rural scenes in shades of black and white.

As you make your way upstairs to the first floor where the museum is, take time to check out the Hinterhof. It's equally pretty. The museum itself is beautifully painted, with lovely and intricate moldings along every wall. There are beautiful chandeliers, old antique furniture, and plenty of placards to inform you about the real estate purchase of this address.

Each room offers something different, and there's also a small exhibit of post cards and old pictures from Pankow and other parts of Berlin from back then. It's easy to imagine what life must have been like for these people, with such a carefully maintained flat. The staff are also friendly and can answer any questions you have, although I found one guy's accent to be exceptionally hard to understand since German isn't my native tongue. So if you don't speak German, definitely bring someone with you who does or it won't be very fun or informative. All of the signage is in German.

Plenty of kids were there, as well as people of all ages. Highly recommend. A free activity as well, although donations are appreciated.

A beautiful church
Jun 2014 • Friends
This church was badly damaged in the 2nd world war and has been almost rebuilt with the same roof and colours. You need to pay an extra 2E if you want to take photos which I did, as the interior is beautiful
