It was cold and grey overhead so the idea of a four-hour walking tour wasn't particularly appealing but it was informative, fun, interesting and sobering and our tour guide, David, was friendly, informed and interested in his subject. Would highly recommend if, like us, you are only in town for a short period of time but want to honour the... More

We went on the famous walk with Michael and were so thrilled with his knowledge and the sites/buildings that we got to see. 4 hours goes very quickly when you are constantly engaged and entertained. His personal stories and experiences also added to a great walking tour. A must do in Berlin

Fabulous and fun walking tour of Berlin. Our guide Maria was brilliant. Knowledgeable and humorous. Good pace walking between sites and nice little cafe visit for lunch. Totally recommended and would do another tour when we are in Berlin again.

Excellent walk, Barnaby is very informative and entertaining. Not just a lecture but an interactive and thought provoking experience, which was also very funny at times. A thoroughly enjoyable four hours in which I feel I gleaned a lot of information, but in a relaxed manner. Definitely recommended.

Very interesting and informative tour . Our tour guide Nickolai was excellent and we had a very enjoyable few hours learning how life was for the east germans for the end of world war 2 until the late eighties.

Excellent tour by Brian .Very informative and evenhanded commentary. Highly recommended tour to this sad place one should not miss it. The misery and cruelty is tangible and would touch the hardest heart. It reinforces the need to never forget what happened here and similar places.

We did the 'Famous Walk' - a four hour tour with Insider Tours. Our guide Phil had a degree in history (as well as a fantastic sense of humour) and he provided great insight into past and present Berlin. We saw all the main sights as well as a lot of the city. Well worth doing and great value for... More

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighborhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighborhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theaters close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
