About Sue Arns - Stadtfuehrungen in Berlin und Potsdam
I am a professional tour guide since 1985 = 34 years in business. I started my career in West-Berlin in big busses and 28 years ago I started offering private tours. I am a child of survivors (my family was from Berlin and erased during the Holocaust) - when touring with me, you will learn the jewish perspective before, during and after the holocaust and more than that I can tell you how jewish life is nowadays in Berlin and Germany. Of course, you will also learn about German and Berlin history. In order to pay a 100% attention to you and your questions, I work with a driver in a Mercedes van. This way when we get out of the car and walk a bit, the driver (who usually is my jewish husband) can pick us up at a different point. We can fit up to 6 of you in our comfortable van which is fully air conditioned. In order to improve your comfort and luxury I work with an individual sound-system that allows you to move and photograph while listenning to me through an earpiece.

Our guide Sue along with her husband Aaron, our driver, made our family Berlin touring experience terrific. Sue is extremely well-researched about both the holocaust and cold war but the addition of her personal story and perspective made her especially compelling. The combination of her passion and humor is not to be missed! She connected with each and every member of our six person group.

Superb and engaging, our 2 days with. Sue and Aaron were brilliant. Their choices were spot on, they immediately tuned in to our.interests and desires and gave us a portrait of Jewish Berlin that we never could have done on our own. They are a bit expensive but worth every penny.

The last time I was in Berlin, I tried to do it all by myself.as a result, I left disappointed by what I had missed. This time, toured with Sue Arns and I am leaving town with nothing but a feeling of accomplishment. We had discussed the places I wanted to see, and we saw them all. Sue’s knowledge is extraordinary, her demeanor is fantastic, and touring with her is like having a close relative take you around town. I can not recommend Sue highly enough. And personally, I can not thank her enough for her efforts in making this day one of the best I’ve had in all of my travels.

Sue and Aaron are great! We toured with our family of 5 (kids ages 19, 17 and 14) with Sue and Aaron for 4 hours. We had emailed prior to the tour and I had given them the heads up on what we had seen in Berlin prior to our tour. They focused the tour on Jewish Berlin and some of the new post-wall Berlin. They were very engaging and informative and made the day a lot of fun and full of learning for us all. The Jewish Berlin sights were thoughtful and fascinating -- not the big monuments and memorials -- but more focused on the impacts on people and neighborhoods. Rail stations used for deportations, memorials in former Jewish neighborhoods, pavement markers where families used to live. It made the unimaginable and horrific events of the Holocaust more personal and humanized for us. The post-wall portions of the day were equally fascinating and Sue and Aaron gave us a real sense of life before and after. Again, we didn't hit the "big" sights because we had seen them, but interesting markets or areas that were behind the wall and have now been revitalized. Not only did they possess great knowledge of the area, but they were able to impart it in an insightful way. Highly recommend the time with them (and their banter back and forth is as fun and entertaining as the tour itself!).

Our tour was arranged by our dear cousin. Sue corresponded with us several times via email and provided us with information on what to do and eat prior to taking the tour. We had a day gap between our arrival and tour. On the day of the tour, Sue and Aaron were amazing. Friendly, knowledgeable and professional. We spent the whole day with them and learned an incredible amount of information. The topic is heavy - but well worth it! I loved every minute of it and I would highly recommend her tour. The personalize service is fantastic. Thank you! We had such an amazing time!
